Hi all,

I am planning to put on a British Film Night at my local bar in Wedding. They have a room in the back that can seat approx. 20 people with an overhead projector which makes a nice cinema room.

I still need to confirm a date. Will most likely be a Tuesday in April.

As for films, it will be a classic British film. Haven't decided what yet but have a shortlist smile.gif

If you're interested post on this thread. Thanks

Count me in as another "interested". Looking forward to hearing that elusive shortlist ;-)
krostitzer
I'd be interested. Where's your bar? I live in wedding, but don't go to many of the bars around here esp since caffee schmidt is gone.
bethany
I 'm interested too, and like everyone else would like to have a look at the shortlist.

Geordieracer
Damn, I'm in England for a week! Will there be another one?
greybot
Will decide on a film by the end of the week and post it here. As for whether there will be another one it depends on how successful the first night is really smile.gif It's already taking place on their regular Kino abend as they aren't open every night of the week.

The film:

Kes (1969)

Directed by Ken Loach

Cast: David Bradley, Lynne Perrie, Colin Welland, Freddie Fletcher, Brian Glover

Ken Loach's engagingly unsentimental story of a working-class boy who manages to find a rare release from his drab life training and caring for a kestrel. Much-loved and well remembered, the film is regarded as a classic of its time, with Loach commenting poignantly on the lack of opportunities for the working classes. It is based on Barry Hines's novel A Kestrel for a Knave, and features cinematography by Chris Menges. Though the subject matter is serious, as usual with Loach there is plenty of room for humour and still to be cherished is Brian Glover's exuberant performance as the warped sports teacher. The film was shot on location in and around Barnsley.]

OK This is tomorrow. Changed my mind on the film for Get Carter as was in my original short-list.

spacecadet
Sorry greybot, I'm not going to be able to make it anymore, hope it goes well and keep us informed if you host any more.
greybot
Thanks again to all those who came along last night. Sorry if I didn't get round to saying hello to you all but I didn't expect such a turn out !
dblaisde
Great fun, greybot! Let's do it again!
