Describing yourself as "nurturing" in a CV - Germany

Is this appropriate?
sunshine_jones
I was just wondering if anybody would agree if it is possible to be of a nurturing nature? (even thought the old nature/nurture arguement are normally opposites)
by a nurturing nature i mean someone who naturally seems to nurture people if this makes sense.
im trying to write my CV when it is not only literally late in the day but metephorically too (or symbollically or i couldnt care less-ically)
so, can i describe myself as of a nurturing nature?
feel free to debate the nurture nature arguement afterwards...just someone say yes first blink.gif

Why would you describe yourself in a CV at all? Sounds unprofessional to me, but I guess it depends on what field you work in.

in the interests/activities section.
or would that not be a good section to have in a CV for germany...to be honest its the first one ive ever had to write so im really winging it!
and i shouldve done it a month ago... unsure.gif

You can put a few of your interest son your resume, but I don't think it's a good idea to put "nuturing nature".

You can goggle the word resume and find some good examples of what a professional resume should look like. Then use some of those examples as a model or outline for yours. Remember your resume is like your callling card. It should look very professional so you can get your foot in the door for an interview.

if you are looking for nursing or childcare or even primary school teaching then saying you have a nurturing nature in the personal summary at the start may be useful. Otherwise I would say leave it out.

Remember that most Cvs are barely even glanced at before being thrown in the bin so it is important for yours to stand out. Many people make the mistake in writing CVs in imagining that they are purely and simply a summary of all the salient points in an individual rather than a selling document. The ideal CV anticipates what the employer wants and demonstrates that the individual has those properties. While it must be accurate and honest (there are legal issues with that) it is important that you make your CV stand out as "just what the employer wanted". As such a CV should probably be adapted for every job you apply for. Some people use the job advert as the guide to the points that need to be made important and also use some of the language from the advert to reinforce that point.

Now that will mean if you are applying for a job as a financial analyst, a 'nurturing nature' while it might be true about you would not be what the employer would be looking for. Rather your numerical aboilities, sector experience, hard headedness and business acumen may be more pertinent.

It doesn't sound good to me, rhyming couplets aren't really appropriate in a CV. What kind of job are you applying for?

In a care giving field then yes, otherwise not. CVs in Germany even have parents and siblings occupations and religious crap that I find absolutely worthless. Hobbies are also listed and sometimes they are interesting, but usually boring filler. I got my first post University job because I listed that I was an Eagle Scout and an assistant Scoutmaster, but that was because the head of the company was a Scoutmaster and his son just made Eagle.

Germs like documents, lots of documents. They want to see what grade you made in kindergarten and want a zeugniss thingy for everything. rolleyes.gif

Just don't forget to double-check your spelling, especially if you're applying for a nurturing job in the educational sector!
Good luck!
