Car pooling from Hamburg

Is car pooling a common practice in Hamburg? In FFM it was quite popular among the French expat community and they used yahoo groups to find each other and hop back to France every other weekend. Does such a thing exist here?

In my case I'm looking to travel to Berlin on Saturday 05/04 (and back on the Sunday). I don't have a Bahn card so I imagine a return trip could cause extensive damage to my wallet...

During the last Bahn strike in November i had to get to Dresden and found a ride right away at mitfahrgelegenheit.de. All you do is sign up, search for destination, time and day you want to go, and up come any matches. You pay a fee to get the driver's mail / phone number.
