Any suggestions? Looking for a place that has a decent chess set.
I've poked around but of to no avail. Anybody have any clues?

Walk from
Marienplatz
towards Tal and just on the corner with Viktaulienmarkt the is a shop that sells deals in mostly "wooden" items and has a large selection of chess boards and pieces downstairs.

In addition to those suggestions, the
Deutsches Museum
shop at
Marienplatz
sells chess boards.

Müller Drogerie (Im Tal) also has a sizable toy department downstairs.

It's across from the statue of Juliet* as you pass the
Old City Hall
in the direction of
Viktualienmarkt
.

Yes, I was in the Kaufhof at
Marienplatz
a few weeks ago. They have lots of chess sets, books on chess, etc.
