Hi,

Would like to ask about partner targeskarte and bayern tickets. Will be in munich for 4 days with another 3 friends, 1st day should be around munich, hence i guess partner tageskarte will be sufficient.
1. 2nd day will be going dachau concentration camp, schloss nymphenburg, is the partner tageskarte enough cover?
2. 3rd day will be going to neuschwanstein, can I use a bayern ticket? i actually bought rail pass, which one shall i use?
3. 4th day evening will be leaving to salzburg, shall i use the rail pass or bayern??

thank you very much!

1. Tageskarte for the whole network (all rings) will cover this
2. you can use a bayern ticket, and if there are 4 of you it makes it really cheap. If you all have Europrail passes, then it depends on the type of passes you have. If you have X number of days of travel, and will use all those days of travel elsewhere, use the Bayern ticket since its is so cheap. But if you all have unlimited travel then there why buy another ticket when your pass will cover it?
3. Bayern Ticket will get you to the border, and the same theory holds for your Rail passes.

do note that the Bayern ticket (both single and group) cannot be used before 9am on weekdays.

good luck

For your trips down the country, it probably works out cheaper to use a bayern ticket than a day on your rail pass.
In addition, the bayern ticket covers the underground/ trams and busses in Munich plus also covers the bus from the station in Füssen to Neuschwanstein. So with the Bayern ticket you are paying less for more!!

Thank you very much Mook32 and exquitius. This is really of great help!! I guess bayern for neuschwanstein will be more worth it as we need to travel by bus which the rail pass doesn;t cover. I actually have one day of the pass available for either neuschwanstein or salzburg. So i guess using pass for both are actually wasted but still need to waste one day since i can't use the pass in some other places. Thank you so much

In that case then for Salzburg then maybe you could use your rail pass and which allows you travel on the quicker (sometimes non stop) and more comfortable Inter City trains.
The Bayern ticket only works on slower Regional trains which stop more often.

For Neuschwanstein there are only Regional trains anyway so no advantage there to using the rail pass.

with the regional train to salzburg, it only takes an hour and a half, hardly enough time to get uncomfortable. smile.gif
