Hello Toytowners,
My Orthopedic doctor has diagnosed me with an RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) / Computer related injury in my lower right arm, similar to Tennis elbow. This was caused by over use of the mouse and continues to be very painful after only a hour of working.
I have already been to a physiotherapist, had 3 weeks of treatment, but they really specialise in sports related injuries despite reassuring me that they could help with my problems.
What I need is a recommendation for a good Physiotherapist or Ergotherapist who specifically deals with hands and wrists. Many of the recommended ones on this site are for sports related injuries.
English speaking would be helpful too.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers.

I can recommend
Therapie 54 at Prinzregentenstrasse 54 although I am not sure if they do ergotherapy and have never asked about the English skills. Has your doc prescribed an elastic supporting cuff? It's great for epicondylitis.

My orthopadic doctor is a nice bloke but doesnt seem to commit to many ideas at all, basically, I am doing all the running.
I dont know what exercises I should or shouldnt be doing or if I should be wearing a wrist support.
He has given the standard prescription for physio and thats about it.
Some people have recommended going to a sanitätshaus to look for wrist support, but I still reckon physio is more important.
Cheers for the recommendation.

I go to Lindebergs Center, its great, as its a combo of physio, massage, osteo and they give excercises and what not. But they only take private!

I was diagnosed with RSI 6 months ago and have been having quite a bad time of it.
I have found an exceptionally good ergotherapist in Zurich Switzerland but unfortunately do not know of one in Germany.
What I can do is recommend a book called
It’s NOT Carpal Tunnel syndrome
you can get it from Amazon and it will be the best book you ever buy it’s saved my career.
Good luck

There's little effective therapy. Wrist splints can help. What I most STRONGLY suggest is trading in that mouse for a Kensington Expert Mouse, a stationary track-ball. I do NOT recomment the Logitech and other similar mice with thumb-balls. The use of this mouse saved my now-ex's wrists. The Kensington costs around €100 and you'll have to order it since no major stores carry it anymore; small shops can get it through Ingram and other distributors. Buy a separate gel pad for the mouse (the one that comes with it sucks) and get a gell pad in front of your keyboard as well.
If you're at the point where you have pain in your upper arms and are forced to sleep in certain positions, it's too late and you need the operation which is done as out-patient/ambulatory. Recovery takes about 8 weeks.
