Hi everyone,
I've really enjoyed browsing this forum for the last few hours, and appreciate an educated, lucid knowledge-base, especially when doing research. Current topic: scientology in Berlin. I've been involved in both good and bad dealings with the Church of Scientology here in New York, and am wondering if the same kind of thing takes place in Berlin, too. Unfortunately, my research keeps leading me either to out-of-date news, or sites that aren't in English. I'm interested in Berlin because my family is from around there, Germany has several fairly unique laws, and I might be going there this summer (my third visit).

So, does anyone know what is going on with Scientology today? Or since the new year? I know several court cases are pending, but I was wondering if people could tell me what the day-to-day actions are of the Church of Scientology. I know there are many different views on what Scientology is, and what they are about, but I don't want this topic (if possible) to descend into the realm of aggravated response after aggravated response (although I have much enjoyed the arguments on other topics). Could the people who post here agree that there are those who are brainwashed either by the state or by scientology or by television or by McDonalds, whatever it is, ignore posts by those people, and simply post their own experiences? I don't mean to sound judgmental, but I'd really like to get responses from both sides, without the anger. Thanks. (By the way, for anyone who is curious, I'm agnostic, and not very happy with the Church of Scientology myself. However, I'm not looking just for people who are going to back up my beliefs, I really want to know about the day-to-day experiences of people who have met them. For example, what is it like living next-door to the new church?)

Thanks again,

Omnigut

The Criminal Cult of $cientology is correctly treated as a dangerous cult here. Their attempts to infiltrate and influence government are well-known and Scamitologists can be denied government jobs on the basis of membership. There is NOTHING good about scamitology. Get away from it.

It is a very controversial issue indeed. According to some Public High Schools in Hamburg , concerning a teachers contract their is a clause to where one puts their signature to not being a member of Scientology. So if you do happen to be a member and you a qualified School teacher, this clause will evidently stop you from ever teaching in a public School.
We have Democracy on one hand, where it is permitted under the freedom of religion, philosophy, spiritual etc beliefs, where Scientology is lawfully established in Democratic countries, and then we have the not so democratic clause mentioned above.

Democracy can be ambiguous such as in this case. Personally I do not agree with this organisation, but that is why we have Laws in society, and if they are breached, authorities will be there. Young people who are vulnerable are lured easily away from mainstream thought and these Shark organizations, are waiting to prey on them. Kids are wanting answers and they cannot find them in the norm of todays society, and these Wolves, attack them Psychologically, boosting there´victims Egos and sense of Selfworth, and so young people are literally carried away and their parents wonder what the hell went wrong and why are their kids so lost and not wanting to come back home. It is like the part in the Bible, where Satan wants to be seated on Gods thrown and all the angels sing in praise of him... This praise, is what these poor young kids, need from society and they dont get it from home or friends or work and so I guess they find it here in Scientology and other beleif systems where, then Kids refuse to have anything to do with there home, friends work etc, because we are the Hell and Scientology is Heaven.

Sorry for raving on.( Sociology is my favourite subject.) I would like to hear other peoples view on this, For or against,... its all good...we learn from both...

For a damned good reason: Scientology is a dangerous cult which was only declared a "religion" after the FDA sued them for selling E-meters as medical devices as a part of the whole Dianetics hooey. That also had the happy side effect of removing them from the "taxable" column. This is thoroughly documented.

And Scamitology has breached many laws, many times. This is one of the reasons they're listed here. Part of their "core values" is that it's perfectly OK to attack anyone who isn't a member in any way possible, much like Martin Luther's late life statements that "to steal from a Jew isn't theft" and "to kill a Jew isn't murder".

because we are the Hell and Scientology is Heaven.

So apparently you haven't read enough of the OTs or you'd know that Scamitology declares Jeebus to be an R6: "a physical manifestation of the mistaken beliefs of Christianity". There is no "hell" in Scamitology (save for the attempts by those caught up in it to pay for the fucking "services".

Interesting article in the Irish Independent yesterday.

They're desperate to be recognised as a bona fide religion as it would somehow legitimise their activities.

Check this out. There may be mentalists among their ranks. Or they may all be mentalists. Or they may be a genuine bunch of people defending their beliefs. Or a bunch of mentalists.
Judge for yourself.

Ach I hope it is just me, but am I the only one who finds it strange that the original poster puts his nationality as "human born", creates a topic and then does not rely to it?

Worst case sceanrio he is connected with these charlatans, why give them free, alebit shoddy, research?

Lets not forget that being a listed religion may just excempt them from paying tax...

We want to be seen as a religion because we feel we can help and contribute to the world..

or..

We want to be seen as a religion as we will not have to pay tax on all that cash all those lost poeple looking for a meaning to their life will give us...

Now, which one will i tbe...

Thanks, everyone, for the response, but I don't suppose any of you have any Berlin-centric news? I'm especially interested in their day-to-day business there. And don't worry about my mind or soul (or wallet), or Thetans (should that really be given a capital letter?), or previous lives. You see, I believe it's just a $cam, but I'm not sure what that means to the Berliner who lives near/in it. Are their drug centers still in operation? Are people accosted on the street? Are neighbors of the new church kept up at night by wild auditing parties?

PS, BadDoggie, you're hilarious.

In Germany Scientology is not recognised as a religion so "freedom of religion" is not relevant. Scientology is considered to be a subversive commercial organisation.

From Hubbard : The aims of Scientology quote "A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights."

Unquote...Well then, let the church bells ring, and light those fires, the truth has been spoken. Just look at the video above, the first thing that scientologists abusive stance and statement is, WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES...

So we who dare to question scientology, are automatically casted as Criminals, Anti-social, INSANE, dishonest, and WAR-MONGERS.

How can vulnerable people not be lured into there venomous Labyrinth, the first thing they are brainwashed with is that ...hello you will be enlightened with the truth, we care for you, we are your family, (in other words where's the money honey?)

It does not matter what beleif system is luring in the dark in any society, the thing is if there are no followers, than I ask you; WILL THAT BELEIF SYSTEM SURVIVE?
