Starting an e.V. or Verein in Germany

Does anyone have any experience starting an e.V. or nonprofit organization in Germany? Any tips or warnings? Any constructive advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You said non-profit organization - therefor you probably want it to be acknowledged as "gemeinnützig", so you dont have to pay income taxes.
