A French woman severely disfigured by facial tumors has been been found dead just two days after a court rejected her request for an assisted suicide.
What bemused me about this is that mostly people fighting through the court for euthanasia are inacapable of killing themsevles. They're paralyzed and have been for years. But while blind, she is mobile, there was nothing to stop her throwing herself out of a building or swallowing poison, the possibilities for her were endless.
So why go to court, and then appeal to the president for the right to kill yourself, when you can just do it? And one guesses that after being turned down, that's what she's gone and done. Just hope nobody gets into trouble for helping her.

Throwing yourself out of a window would be pretty scary I would think, but getting somebody to help you take a lethal amount of drugs is probably a lot easier.

What bemuses me about people that go in for surgery is that a lot of them have their own knives and hands. They could just as easily do it themselves, yet they insist on having a doctor do it.

Maybe she could have travelled to Switzerland or Netherlands, as Euthanasia is legal there. Also, its a neighbour to France.
In some countries, legalising Euthanasia can have serious implications on its crime rate. So, it depends!

Easier said than done. Do you know the amount of Anaesthesia that you can inject into your body for a particular duration? And many dingsbums like that?
And do you know how dangerous are those botox operations? It aint that easy. You are playing with life, dude!

Also, here's a pic of old machine which was used to assist suicide :

QUOTE
A now-unused machine that facilitated euthanasia through heavy doses of drugs. The laptop screen led the user through a series of steps and questions to ensure he or she was fully prepared. The machine is pictured on display in a museum.

Perhaps she wanted to help others in the same situation by trying to set a precedent.

Is it possible that her manner of death affected her children's inheritance? Her youngest was only 13. Perhaps there was a "suicide clause" written into her life insurance. As a former schoolteacher I can't imagine she had all that much to leave to her family to begin with.

Because ...
1) suicide is looked down upon.
2) people who commit suicide have to do it on their own without access to professional medical help.
3) people who commit suicide can't end their lives in the presence of their family and friends.
4) there are legal implications for those who may have been involved.
5) religious reasons.
6) suicide can go wrong, be very painful and cause a lot of pain.
I think it's fairly obvious why she went through the court process, poor lady.

I think it's fairly obvious that she wanted to make a point.. I can't believe there are people here confused about the situation.. hopefully it will force some change in this stupid, no doubt religiously inspired law..

The is a horrible way to live. But still I can see how legalizing suicide for different cases would make people who would normally fight it out just give up.

Opps yea, legalizing assisted suicide. Suicide can hardly be considered illegal though, what can they do after your already dead??
Quite.

not pay out life assurance?
maybe...wild guess
True, but that would "hurt" other people, not the person committing suicide.
