just before I left england i bought a second hand gibson for 300 pounds, looked like a junior, my dream. It is A gibson spirit 2 with bound body. I cannot find any reference with google to this particular type and beleive it is probably a rareity. anyone know better (thats an invitation on Toytown (heimat der besserwisser)).
any info or knowledge appreciated
Pas
Slighly disappointed. I thought this was about some sort of out of body experience with MadGibson.

sorry to disappoint you, but my threads are tedious at the best
MadAxeMurderer
Any kind of body experience with MadGibson would be enjoyable. Lucky Pas

There are loads of references if you search for Spirit II rather than Spirit 2, even a wiki entry.

QUOTE
This model differs from Spirit I only in that it has a humbucker in the neck position as well as one in the bridge position, and there is no pickguard. Sunburst finishes are more common in the Spirit II model than in the Spirit I. Body binding is also more commonly found on Spirit II models than on Spirit I. There are two volume controls, one tone control, and one Les Paul style Rhythm/Treble switch.

Yes there are but to find a spirit with bound edges apart from on wiki is hard, I havent found a single guitar reference that describes the one I have and very limited information. If you have access to better links than me please let me know
UrbanAngel
Why don't you just contact the manufacturing company?
Iain & Siobhan
really googled nothing at all, it was an 80s guitr and I can find that out from the serial number
Iain & Siobhan
Have been all over the gibson website and they have nothing, to ring them ? I only wondered if anyone had heard anything, sometimes you get information from the strangest sources, and I would consider this one of the strangest sources
UrbanAngel
Yeah my suggestion would be to ring them if you're having no luck with their own research; they must have a list of product numbers, release dates and quantities produced etc. If you're allowed to access that info is a different matter, but if you don't ask.. etc.

You could try looking through ebay listings, my work proxy does no let me get to ebay but this site has a feed:

unfortunately with the serial number this is a ll but one pick up double cutaways single bridge humbucker (and a P90 at that )puts it as a spirit one, this is not so. it is original, so as I said it is uncertain what it is, gibson also is unsure. Thanks Keydeck but the wiki references are really weak and do not get near this guitar. th reason I poste here is to check if anyone knows more. Gibson, google Wiki all have nop real clue about this silly little guitar that sounds great and wa a real bargain. I am confused totally as this guitar should not exist, but I know it does.
