If you're the kind of person who suffers shopping withdrawal symptoms when the shops are shut for 3 days out of 4 over Easter, here is the antidote:

The "Markt der Sinne" craft market will take place from 22 to 24 March (Saturday thru Monday) on the Praterinsel - that's the little island in the Isar which can be reached via the bridge over the river betweeen Maximilianstr. and the Maximilianeum. Or for a scenic little walk, set out from the island with the ornamental gardens just across the road from the Deutsches Museum, and walk north along the weir that connects to the Praterinsel. The market itself is indoors, so no worries about bad weather. Just wander around looking at beautifully crafted things that may or may not be of practical use, but will make you feel good.

Opening times are 11:00 - 19:00, and there is an entrance fee of 4 Euros (kids up to 12 years get in for free, and there's also a kiddies' entertainment programme to keep them occupied).

Nearest MVV: Tram 17 or 19 to Maxmonument, or U4/U5 to Lehel, or S-Bahn to Isartor, or tram 18 to Deutsches Museum.
