Has anyone else remarked on the fact that the server for this forum is still on daylight saving time?

You can change your timezone, and set daylight savings on or off, in your profile under
board settings.

Default guest user gets the non-daylight time, its always been like that.
Only logged in users get the daylight time if they set it up.

This appears to be happening again.
EDIT: Maybe it's my
timezone settings.
EDIT AGAIN: Yup, nevermind, was my daylight savings checkbox that had things messed up.

The forum times are set on a per member basis rather than per board basis. This is because different members live in different timezones. Bizarre but true. TT is a
global phenomenon. Think global, act local! Or is it the otherway around? Anyway...
To reset your times go to your
control panel and click
board settings.

I got caught out by that too.
It doesn't defualt to Munich time all by it's own, on account of the non-Munichers. You have to go change it yourself. (aaargh! effort!)

You need to change your daylight savings setting under the "board settings" in your profile.

I've just noticed that my time shown is one hour out, i.e. still on winter time but when I check the settings I'm on the time for Brussels, Paris etc.(Munich doesn't seem to get a mention, but it's ok I know we're on the same time!

) Am I stupid (don't all shout YES at once) or could this because I'm on a MAC using Safari (which, let's face it you should all be!) If this answer is simple, as am I, let me know, if it involes using all sorts of strange codes and stuff, don't worry I'll live with it, no different than watching SKY tv!

Apr 4 2006, 8:37 pm
have you got the little "DST correction" box ticked?
Allershausen
Apr 4 2006, 8:44 pm
Well it was, so I unticked it and there was another box which asked me if summertime was in effect which I ticked and now I will see if it worked!
EDIT: Which it didn't 'cos it still says 8:44

you might have to log on and log back on, then, or summat
don't listen to me, though, I am rubbish at techie-type stuff...

Now I've unticked them both, so I'll see again.

Allershausen, I've never had problems with the time change on this board before. But this time I just can't get it right either, no matter what boxes I check or uncheck or which computer I'm using. It refuses to display the time in summer time. Perhaps these things just happen when you get to our age.

it took me a bit of fiddling with the settings this year, tickign and unticking boxes, logging out then logging back in and it eventually worked but I can't say how.
Jeeves
Apr 5 2006, 9:12 am
Ditto, I've got it sorted now. Took me about 10 minutes of fiddling etc too.
Not that it really matters, at the
rate the clock is gaining it would be right in a couple of days anyway.

Just noticed that the time of posts is an hour out ...
Is that normal or did I have a pointless 'aha-erlebnis'!

You can set your time zone in your profile. TT is by default set to GMT. You will also manually have to change it to/from DST twice a year.
BlueSte
Jul 2 2007, 3:10 pm
Well isn't that clever ... ta muchly!
Can someone explain it more slowly?
My settings show DST active and on the right timezone. So why is the forum posting time still one hour out?
Editor Bob
Nov 7 2007, 11:59 pm
Because your DST should not be active.
DST means "Daylight Savings Time", known to Brits more commonly as "British Summer Time".
We're no longer in Daylight Savings Time, that ended a couple of weeks ago. So uncheck the box labelled "Is daylight saving time in effect?" and you should be sorted. I'd also recommend checking the box "Auto correct DST" then you won't need to worry about it again.
That what I meant, The DST option called "Auto correct DST?" is ticked and it has set me at Brussels, Copenhagen GMT +1
Yet still this post will say 19:10 or something. Yet its only 18:10.
Edit: See!
Now the time is an hour ahead on the posts again!
Am I
that dim? Have I watched too much Doctor Who? Or is there something fishy going on here?
My settings, as always:

Time shown exactly 1 hour later than on the clocks in my house.

The times were stuffed up for about a week after daylight savings, but they are now correct...maybe if you're in London they could be wrong. On the third stroke, the time will be 3:07 pm...
