Georg-Elser-Halle to close

The lease is up

The George Elser Hallen are set to close in the very near future. Apparently the Lease came up for renewal but was rejected by the Owner in favour of building Appartments/more likely Commericial Offices in the semi prime Ostbahnhof Area. An extension has been granted and i assume legal bargaining is still going on (hence this not yet being published in the Press).

OMGZ!!! I has Tix nd NOW no Show!!11!!

All concerts will still take place. The most likely replacement venue is the Old Post Kantine next to the Augustiner Bier Garten on Anulfstrasse which was unveiled as a event location earlier this month (although it has been used off and on as a Veranstaltungs venue since at least 2004). It is run by Hallen Betrieber Wolfgang Nöth who is also the top man at the Zenith and neighbouring Kesselhaus locations.

Disclaimer: All of this is just words floating around the concert and veranstaltungs world. Subject to amendment, retraction or outright refutation as and when i get more solid information.

Again, No panic. All tickets will be honoured, all concerts will take place in an alternate venue which doesnt have big pillars running through the middle of the room. yay!

Been to some good concerts at the Georg-Elser Hallen, but somehow never really liked the place, so I won't be mourning its closure if they find a better location.

Oops...could be the last TT over 30's party in the Georg-Elser-Halle next week then...just got it squeezed in in the nick of time!

I'll miss the venue, saw some great gigs there, Mötörhead, Mogwai, Jimmy Eat World, Eels, Crowded House...

While it will be a shame as it is a good venue and home to many great gigs, I like the sound of the Arnulfstr. place. Well, it's near my flat and I'm selfish.

The whole area will be rebuild within the next 10 years. The idea was up up for the last 20 and the actual "real world" planning is known for the last 15 years.
