At Olympia-Bowling (close to Scheidplatz)

Related topic: Monthly Bowling Meet-up
As a first attempt to make this a monthly event we will be meeting at Olympia-Bowling on Sunday 23 March 2008 at 5.45pm. This will be a kidless bowling to start with, next event will include the offspring as well.

I will reserve the lane(s) this evening, depending on how many sign up. And as it's Easter I propose a donation of €2 each to buy two Easter eggs or bunnies or other - one for the winner and one for the loser.

Costs per person last time were €12.60 for two games plus €2 for shoes but it should be cheaper on Sunday evening.

As there were problems meeting up last time, here are the walking directions from Scheidplatz U-Bahn/streetcar/bus:
Go to the north-east exit, the one leading to Bummstrasse (I kid you not!). This is the exit next to the tennis court with your back to town and Bummsstrasse heading east.
Cross Bummstrasse, going north
Turn right at Rümannstrasse
Continue along Rümannstrasse, going east
Cross Hagedornstrasse (if you are on the south sidewalk there is no street to cross, just a big retirement home)
The next corner is Klopstockstrasse, turn left up that, pass the parking lot on the east side
You are at Olympia Bowling
And if you think you will need further assistance, PM me for my cell phone number!

You are at Olympia Bowling

Presumably the carpark Sara refers to either belongs to or is very near the bowling alley.
Pas
Jeez, drives for three months and now she's the expert. tongue.gif
madgibson
Not at all - just repeating what the byrd woman said...I actually have no clue about car parks in Munich...probably never get to know either as I use MVV for city travel!
sarabyrd
And so it does, madgib is indeed a natural-born driver-woman!

There is usually plenty of parking available on the street at Olympia Bowling.

Having said I'd be interested, I can't make it this week. However here's a Google map to help with Sarabyrds directions.

Hmmm... if everyone shows, that's 15 people. Two lanes may not be enough.
sarabyrd
Uh-oh, keep an eye on the intellectual!
Your friendly event-organizer has noticed this complication and is in touch with the bowling alley regarding a third lane.
That's lane, not runway, so all you Freisinger mob can sleep easy.

EDIT: Done
bluedave
A maybe enters the ring.
madgibson
There's plenty of "maybes" so you'll probably be fine with 2 lanes but I suppose Sara knows best (better to have too many lanes than not enough!)
RickMunich
So what kind of nationality breakdown are we talking here? Americans, Brits, Canadians, Aussies, NZ, Germans? Are we diverse enough to break down into teams?

One Ami + one German here.
NOFXmike
I'm insulted if anyone calls me an "Ami"...

1 American & 1 German (who you would swear is american even after talking to her for a few hours)
sarabyrd
Frigg the breakdown into teams. It may be male v. female, blond v. other, first-come against late-comers, left-handers v. right-handers, Oachkatzln v. Scwhoafzuuzler etc.

The contribution to the winner's or loser's kitty is 1EUR, I got prizes worth 7EUR each.
munichjoe
so that means its 1€/head?... winner takes all per lane?... :-D hmmmm this sounds interesting...

Hi, I would like to join the bowling fo easter eggs if it is not to late. Please let me know if it is still possible.
Jc
sarabyrd
Sure, Jc, just follow the directions on getting there.
No money in the kitty, just kitschy Easter baskets.

Where will we meet? Since I've never been there and I don't know how any of you look like, what's the sign by which ye shall be known?
alimess
How many space left ?

I am thinking about coming...
Pas
I'll go straight there.

This is me...

Sarabird, perhaps you can wear the pink thing you had on at the Christmas party. Should be easy to spot.
alimess
and this is me behind Pas... ph34r.gif
Scogs
Yes Sara will have the pink "thing" with her
No problem on extras arriving
Pas
I hoped I got away with the 'thing' but obviously not. What is the word for it? I had a mind blank. Boah?
BadDoggie
I'm a maybe. Depends on getting a few things here sorted. Why somewhere near OEZ? Wouldn't the alley by Mailingerstr. be easier (and cheaper)?

woof.
alimess
Well I am a maybe too, still deciding whether I am making a roast or not for tonight but BD if you go I might put the roast on hold until tomorrow... biggrin.gif
Pas
I'm setting off. Should be plenty of time but if I'm not there at 6 i'm lost/in stau.

Leeza can't make it. She doesn't have a babysitter.

Well, the location is absolutely PERFECT for me (+1)...hell, we can walk there. I see normally their rates are damn cheap on Sunday nights after 6, so it works out great...rates go down every hour you bowl, so after a couple hours it's rediculously cheap to keep bowling.
sarabyrd
This is me with the pink thing.

If in doubt ask at the desk for Toytown, we have three lanes and will be speaking English. If you can still read this, i.e. haven't left yet, PM me for my cell phone number, I'll be on until 5.10pm.
sarabyrd
Thank you all for coming, it was fun doing the physical thing as well as meeting newbies. The costs came out to exactly EUR 10 each including shoe rental. PM me which social function you will be attending and I will come and collect on you.

The next bowling meetup will be organized by someone else and at a different location, so keep tuned to TT. I will gladly pass on the feather boa for recognition purposes.
P.S. Low score was 67, high I dunno, ask MunichJoe.
NOFXmike
I thought the location was great (as mentioned above), the price was also quite reasonable...and we had a good time. Thanks Sara for arranging everything!
RickMunich
Thanks from us as well to Sarah for organizing everything. I believe I had the high score with a 213, but I officially removed myself from competition and don't know what the next highest was.
munichjoe
yea so betweent he 2.25 games that we shot... i shot a 163 and a 152... nothing to write home about... but still it was ok.

oh yea and thanx sara for getting it all together! had a good time! next time we have to get the english speaking team to help with the speaking lessons for my GF ;-) i try to tell her its ok to talk... but shes the shy type...
Pas
Well the last three posts shows who got home from the pub latest.

I tried teaching Americans the finer details of cricket in Molly's after but I think I came away knowing more about Baseball.

Thanks for organising Sara. Pics to come once vetted.
camlough
I had a nice time and I did far better than I thought I would ph34r.gif Very nice meeting you all. Thanks Sara for organising it!
Pas
Pics are in the Gallery.
sarabyrd
Whoever hasn't paid up please PM me for my bank details.
Rick - can you ask Aiden to get in touch? He's not on here.
Cheers!
RickMunich
Will do Sarah. smile.gif
