Hello Everyone,

Hopefully I am posting this in the correct area. (I wish I found this site 2 years ago.)

I live in the USA, but work in Lohmar, DE on a project assignment. This is my 3rd year on the project.
I usually work here for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, and then go back to the states for a week or two.

While here working, I stay in Siegburg at a hotel. On weekends, I try and find interesting things to do. The people at the hotel, and where I work, speak good English,.So, this does not challenge me as often as I would like to learn the language. I do use a self study course, and it has helped me greatly to get around. But, holding a full conversation in German is still very difficult for me to do.

I grew up in Boston, MA, but now live in Nashville, TN.

I thought I would post here to see if there are any members in the area that get together for drinks or dinners, and do some fun things. IT sure would be a welcome change from sitting in a hotel room on a rainy day like today.

I was conceived in Boston, grew up in Tennessee and now live here in Munich. As a fellow traveler on the spiritual plane, take the tandem offer is my advice. I had to move to a town where no one spoke English to finally really and actually learn German. I don't suggest that drastic a step, but I guarantee that it works. BTW, which part of Nashville do you live in? I have lots of friends there.

Hi Hans & eurovol,

Thanks for the replies.

Hans... sounds like a possibility, but weekdays may be diffucult for me, as I work long days, and stay in Siegburg. My weekends are usually the days that I have more free time. I fly back to the states on the 20th, and return to Germany on April 7th for 2 or 3 weeks.

Hi eurovol, I live about 34 lines south of downtown Nashville, near Frankiln, TN. looking at your name I have to ask... You a VOLS fan? where in TN did you live?

Well back in the USA, just arrived, March 20th, but arriveback in Siegburg on the 8th of April.

Maybe I can get to one of the gatherings in either Koln or Bonn when I get back over.
