Hi all! The munich mela site looks kind of ghetto, and the other one doesn't work. Do the Indians on TT ever get together for meetups? Somehow I have the impression that the one's on Munich mela are the kind that would organise kirtans and stuff. With TT there might still be hope of meeting younger people more in my comfort zone ..

Yea. And I though
curry night would be a bunch of youngsters.
You won't know until you try.
Might be a good mix.

Define youngsters and define your idea of a fun meeting

I have a 30 yr. old son, if that helps with perspective.
I happen to be a magical child and enjoy being in a mixed group.

ok, so it seems we Indians have not such a strong community here. I guess though that there are lots of Indians. May be we can start some regular meetings like the other communities do on TT like the canadians etc. What do the others say???

Just back from London where I had an overdose of bollywood, curries and the occasional hindi gupshup. Felt I was back in good ol India. Was quite envious of my friends there who could choose from a Brit or an Indian experience whenever they wanted and then suddenly it struck me that perhaps I could have this too...
Bips - I'm going to take you on this one..maybe we should all meet up and see how it goes from there...
FF - thats just what we need...spirit of a magical child
Bollywood - since we still dont know how "young" is "young" for you, you will have to make do with us...the young in spirit !!

There was a kind of
Indian Stammtisch way back in 2005 but once Roots left it kind of died...you could resurrect it.

The young stuff didn't really relate to age, more like young at heart, I suppose Fraufruit would be a good example
It would just be nice to meet some people, to explain it in terms of Bollywood, i'm more comfortable with meeting the
'Dil Chahta Hai' sort, as compared to, say
'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'I second (or should i say third?

) itsbipul and mysterious m, on the meetup idea.
Since my last post, i have also gone through some stuff (like a birthday and a graduation) that has made me realise the fleeting nature of youth

, so let's just meetup and see how we get along

Adding to the thread - I have been here for two years now. we moved from london and never had a problem meeting fellow Indians. Somehow in Munich I always bumped into Munich M@&%(bhaajan Keertan) indians(no offence meant) and tried my best to fit in. Two years and I have completly given up, realising that I cannot do it ANYMORE. Please include me in the meet up if you guys get around having something.

All right, lets start with the planning:
I propose
lunch on Sunday 13th of April, and I suppose we should have nice Indian food to go with the meetup.
please come up with your suggestions on possible venues, as I don't really know that much about
Indian restaurants in Munich.
We should also perhaps call it a south-asian meetup, so people from other countries like pakistan, bangladesh, sril lanka, nepal, tibet, etc. also participate.
and I guess everyone who is interested should be welcome, my wife is german and she might accompany me.
The only requirement being that people have to be sort of interested in some kind of South Asian masala. so people please throw in your ideas. Also perhaps how we might get more people to participate.

If we manage to get some interest from people, then we could try reviving the Indian stammtisch that madgibson mentions. it seems to have been quite successful. They also have a reservation page(which doesn't work at the moment), which we could get going again, of course depending on the interest. Also it might be better to have this discussion in the meetups in munich section, so i'll start a new thread there.

How to meet other Indians in Munich
You could just post something in the "Items for free" section of the Classified Ads and I'd guarantee they'll flock to you.

This is great. I thought that the thread was dead after my last post. I am in IN. Yes, I agrees we can include people from south asia..
There's a reasonable number of indians playing
Cricket in Munich. If you're into cricket that's a good way to meet people.
