@BD
So, are you getting some stottie cake/baps in or what? Can you bring me a cheese & onion pasty?!
bluedave
Hahahaha, awaiting instructions on baps/rolls/barmcakes etc etc Don't think they're likely to sell stotties in Bristol. wink.gif
SpiderPig
Dave..
You could bring the biggest fuck off tin of Mushy peas with you...and a pickled egg or 5

Oops, My name aint on the list.. but I will probably be there, wearing my drinking head too!! laugh.gif
bluedave
Thought about mushy peas too but thought Maurice might think we were taking the piss and once again not sure if they have such a delicacy in Wurzel country.

Robin Hoods Bay, a small village 20 minutes north of Scarborough. The picture is taken from Ravenscar which is reputed to be the place where Dracula visited . 10 miles Further north is Whitby.

Robin Hoods bay what a beautiful place, park at the top and then walk down the long steep winding hill, love the place . I might just pop along on friday night myself, nothing wrong with talking some northern shit

We could have a bit of a sing song after the fish & chips...

QUOTE
Within the lyrics there is one central verse to the song, the first, third and fourth lines are changed with each following verse. All of the verses in the song feature the second, fifth, sixth and seventh lines which are "On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at".

Yorkshire lyrics:

Wheear 'ast ta bin sin' ah saw thee, ah saw thee?

On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at

Wheear 'ast ta bin sin' ah saw thee, ah saw thee?
Wheear 'ast ta bin sin' ah saw thee?

On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at
On Ilkla Mooar baht 'at

Tha's been a cooartin' Mary Jane

Tha's bahn' to catch thy deeath o` cowd

Then we shall ha' to bury thee

Then t'worms'll come an` eyt thee up

Then t'ducks'll come an` eyt up t'worms

Then we shall go an` eyt up t'ducks

Then we shall all ha' etten thee

That's wheear we get us ooan back

English translation:

Where have you been since I last saw you, last saw you?

On Ilkley Moor without a hat

Where have you been since I last saw you, last saw you?
Where have you been since I last saw you?

On Ilkley Moor without a hat
On Ilkley Moor without a hat
On Ilkley Moor without a hat

You have been courting Mary Jane

You are going to catch your death of cold

Then we will have to bury you

Then the worms will come and eat you up

Then the ducks will come and eat up the worms

Then we will go and eat up the ducks

Then we will have eaten you

That's where we get our own back
madgibson
Haven't sung that since I was in the Girl Guides!!
Pas
I've never seen it translated.
crusoe
and the last line before the chorus gets an extra "Wi'out thy trousers on".
Pas
Got word back from the boss at Mollys. If we had a cook we'd be allowed to cook Yorkshire Puds or something like. Anybody fancy cooking?
Pas
BlueDaves on the case on some Bread. I've asked him about Mushy Peas as well but I suspect you won't get them where he is.

Great. Good idea. If possible I'll come along together with my +1.

Won't be needing the mushy peas etc. though.

Although I'm normal my Mum comes from Bolton and met my Dad somewhere up there. So, I hope I can make it to this Northern Monkey Night.

Pas
Indeed. From a bit of a running joke between Madgibson and myself over the last 5 months to reality.

Need to go into the cellar tonight and see if I can find my late 80's Yorkshire Cricket Top. I doubt somewhat it will fit though.
Mik Dickinson
You wi ya cricket top and me wi me Accrington Stanley scarf, not gonna be fancy dress is it?

Bread has been purloined purchased from Morrisons. smile.gif
SpiderPig
Right then..

To avoid any mess at the end of the Night.. I suggest that we implement a "pay as you booze" scheme.

Helles is 3.10€
Weißn is 3.20€

Suggest that we round upto 3.50€ a drink!
That way Service will be good and no one gets landed with a surprise at the end of the night.

Any thoughts on this?

G
Pas
As you may have spotted from other threads I'm somewhat passionate about ensuring the establishment and ourselves are level at the end of the evening as it almost always ends up off slightly. The Turkish the other night was a little embarrasing actually as we were out by 10 drinks between about 25 people. That's not to say they didn't make a mistake.

If they don't do pay on the bar this would be a good option in my opinion.

Morrisons in Bristol? I thought Morrisons was a "northern" chain of supermarkets?...obviously not...anyhow, I'm sure it'll be tasty with our fish & chips smile.gif
Pas
The first Morrisons was in Morley. My mother lost me in it when I was a toddler.
Allershausen
Morrisons took over safeway a few years back.
Pas
I'm actually having flashback traumas now. The huge shelves towering above me. The really leaky roof and the small birds that perpetually flew around that place. Mama , mama.

Disturbingly it's one of my earliest childhood memories.

I think I might need to drink a lot of beer to blot the memory out again.
Mik Dickinson
As to drink i'll opt out S.P. No alcohol for me for years and i do not drink that much anyway only a couple of Apfelschorles.

would anybody also like maybe to question the location of Nottingham Castle?

Well if the distance between Leeds Castle and Leeds is anything to go by, I'd have to say... Calais? blink.gif

Oh no, hang on, it's a trick question, isn't it? They had it dismantled brick by brick and transported to the States!
themusicalguy
Ayup, any a thar lot commin't show mi home team some suppoart in't FA semi's this weekend?

Last time Barnsley med it this far, the won it (1912) an titanic sank n'all but wi dun't talk abart that! =)
GreenTea
SpiderPig's "pay as you booze" scheme sounds good to me. Not that I'm much of a drinker though, at least when it comes to beer. Ooh, I see ThePosterWithNoChips has signed up - 'appen he'll be bringing his own bottle of Premier Cru Chablis fer them as likes summat a bit finer smile.gif . Eee, an' he's half-Boltonian, too, that's grand.

Thinking about the chip butties - there's this white sliced bread called "American Sandwich" that you can get here, that I reckon would do the job of holding the chips together without crumbling away - I could get some on my way there, if needed. Or will we be OK with the bread that Bluedave's bringing over?

And let's not forget the other essential ingredient - butter. Will they have that at Molly's, or do we have to bring our own?

Hope they serve the chips nice and hot. The key to a perfect chip butty is for the chips to be served so hot that, even after being drenched in malt vinegar, they are still warm enough to just melt the butter on the bread. Mmmm, I really want a chip butty now.

Tough luck indeed...would have been just the ticket - toasted hot cross buns with lashings of butter...yummy!

P.S. Couldn't you jet down to Munich in your plane and drop off a food parcel over Molly's? tongue.gif

It's usual at this point for somebody to ask how we'll find each other. I think I know almost everybody and, quite frankly, it is likely to be the easiest group of people to find to Mollys tomorrow night so I'll not bother with instructions.

We do only have 20 so any more on the waiting list please. One or two usually drop out on the day though.
