Non-lethal laser weapons

Having your eyes pecked out by ravens is not actually lethal.

My problem isn't if it will or if it won't permanently blind the target if hit in the eye. I don't actually know on account of not being demetedly sick enough to try to find out. My problem is that it is so EASY for a schoolkid to get the bits and knock one of these things together. Muggers could incapacitate their victims for a piece of equipment costing a few Euros by the time the Chinese get in on the act. Is all this security making us any safer, one wonders.

Call me a communist or I'm getting into the designer laser safety eyewear business pronto. Who'll fund my quest?

Where were you and your safety glasses about 20 years ago or so... I could have used some them. Laser pointers were just becoming popular, and I had a Boss who would wave his hands around when he got enthusiastic doing a presentation... with the laser pointer still on and in his hand! We felt a little like extras in those scenes in Star Wars...
