Hello!
Can anybody recommend an insurance company that would provide contents insurance for a rented apartment? I've got 30 grand worth of equipment in a rented apartment and would like it insured against theft, fire+smoke and water damage. I don't need the actual apartment building insured though as it's just rented.

We got ours with our bank (Deutsche Bank) and it's something like 600Euros coverage per square meter of the flat. If you need more they can also do that for you. We paid ~100Euro for the year...
Hope that helps

We can put you in touch with an insurance broker if it helps. Although he is based in Munich, I don't think it would make any difference.

I have long been a satisfied client of
CK-Versicherung, which is a makler -- a broker -- which is not attached to any specific insurance company. Instead, they'll analyse your needs and sell you the insurance that they think fits best out of the entire market. They have an office in Berlin in the Französische Strasse. The insurance you're seeking is called Hausratversicherung in German.
