Taking a TXL bus to Tegel Airport since the strike

Hi everyone,

I need to meet my parents at the airport tomorrow morning and I don't want to pay to take a taxi from Friedrichshain if I can help it. On the BVG website it says:

Der Flughafenzubringer nach Tegel TXL verkehrt in der zeit von 5-23 Uhr im 20-Minuten-Takt und wird zwischen 6-8 Uhr und 16-18 Uhr auf einen 10-Minuten-Takt verdichtet.

My German is a bit rusty...does this mean that the TXL bus is actually running (either every 20 minutes or 10 minutes, depending on the time of day)? The BVG route planner doesn't actually put it in as an option. When I asked it to plan the route from my house to TXL it puts me on an S-Bahn to Beusselstr. and then tells me to walk for 30 minutes!

So can anyone vouch for the TXL bus running? Obviously, I will give myself plenty of time but I just don't want to get stuck at Beusselstr. (with no taxi stand) and my poor parents waiting for me...

Yes, you are right. It runs every 20 minutes (from 5 to 23) and then every 10 minutes (6 to 8 and 16-18)

One option is going to Sbahn charlottenburg and then catching the bus there, right near the station. It's about 15-20 minute bus ride from there. I can explain more if this is an option for you...?

Wait, are buses running tomorrow? I am out of it on the latest strike info!

Thanks for the reply. The bus does stop at Beusselstr. (only 2 stops away from the airport), so the Charlottenburg thing doesn't help in that regard. It would just be nice to know what time the bus gets there so that I could time my trip a bit better. I guess I will just leave a lot of extra time and trust the every-20-minute claim.

if it's any help - everytime I've used the TXL bus it has been super punctual .. just really crowded with people's luggage.

I am sure that it is punctual except for the fact that I don't know what time it is supposed to be there!

The TXL is running, but only from Hauptbahnhof, not all the way from beyond Alex like it usually does. I managed to take it the other day, first taking the S-Bahn from Alex to Hbf. Actually, it was pretty easy, and less full than usual.

Yes, I took it last Wed (early morning about 6 AM) to the airport and late this Wed night (10 PM) back, both times to the Beusselstr. S-Bahn. It's not running on any set schedule but it is running regularly. It was quite crowded both times.

FWIW, my trip from Hbf->TXL was at about 6:40am.
