we have just come back from a 2 day trip to look at houses for my hubbys new job at Eurofighter in Hallbergmoos we did 9 houses in a day and half the 2 we picked out were in Ismaning and Earding, would just like you guys opinion on these areas we are 48 & 52yrs no children i will not be working and i have no transport my husband will have a car for work . Thanks

Ismaning is safer when it comes to public transport because the S-8 is "protected" whereas the S-Bahn to Erding often terminates unexpectedly at Markt Schwaben with no explanation or excuse. OTOH Erding is a proper village with shops and restaurants and whatnot; Ismaning is pretty dead in this regard.

woof.

Ismaning has the advantage of it taking approx half the time to reach Munich by S-Bahn and easier access to the Airport, which may or may not be important to you.

Erding. Really nice place without being too overcrowded. It is one of those places that seems to be balanced between a bit out of the way but not too far away as to be inconvenient. Lots of pubs, restuarants and gets quite busy in the summer as lots of people come out from Munich on a Sunday to visit the pubs and cafes.

Another vote for Erding, although Ismaning has a great ruby house - something not to be sniffed at.

Personally I prefer Erding but given your situation Ismaning is maybe the better choice. As another idea perhaps your husband could forgo the car to allow you some independence. Not much point having the car sitting in the car park when the wife could be using it and he has only one stop to go from Ismaning to Halbergmoos. Stand up for yourself woman biggrin.gif

Would have to say Erding as there are a lot of English speaking people there.a lot of non working housewives and you could also join the psorts and leisure club form the Amadeus to meet up with the English Speaking people.Website is www.aslc.de

Hi Yraunaj -

I have lived in both places, as noted good S-Bahn connection, has a nice trail system along the Isar River, otherwise not much of a village feeling. Erding - have never had problem with S-Bahn S-2 terminating, however i usually ride on weekends. S-Bahn will get you closer to Hallbergmoos living in Ismanning. Erding has a nice village feeling to it. Agree with topcat 1 post, I drive my wife to work and have the car for freedom and if she needs it, I plan things around the house. Good Luck
