Comedy...my ex-boss was definately like this:
Short men 'are the most jealous'QUOTE (BBC News)
Short men are the most likely to be jealous, scientists believe. Spanish and Dutch researchers quizzed 549 men and women to rate how jealous they felt and to identify the qualities that made them feel the most insecure. Men felt most nervous about attractive, rich and strong rivals, but the taller ones were the most relaxed

think the medical term for it is 'small man syndrome'.
we know a few...6'3" tall Mr.Moonboot is lucky to work with one poor thing.
we also have some 'vertically-challenged' friends who are lovely so it doesn't hold for everyone I reckon.

well...i think the theory is that it was their shortness that drove them to seek success in the first place - a la Napolean

on the big guys too. always like a challenge so they do.
interesting conversation i was having with some muppet.
him :"how tall are you?"
me: " 6'3" "
him: "i always wanted to be 6ft, anything above is just too tall"
he is about 5'7".
best or worst case of small man syndrome ive ever encountered. couldnt think of anything to combat it with so i just stared into space.
shame my rowing mates hadnt been there.

My shorty is the least jealous guy I've ever dated, he's also the shortest. He's genuinely self-confident though.

You have to be careful with generalizations, however I have found that the wise asses or the people who have something to prove, more often than not, are below average height.

Same experience here. They seem to have the most to say, say it longest, loudest and alway finish last.
(They also look funny wearing suits in an attempt to look "normal") (nicked that off some Canadian comedian that was putting "short blokes" into room 101)

At the risk of being told to Google it, what is regarded as average height in these parts?
EDIT: I decided to
google and got 178cm or 5' 10" which makes me short, you bastards!

if your man is the one I think it is, then he isn't really very short, he's normal height

I'm 6'0 and at home I feel I'm above the average. But here in Germany I appear to be below the average, at least going by my colleagues that I work with.

Allerhausen, I was wondering the same thing:
New Scientist doesn't state that either.
You see, Groningen, being in the Netherlands, will have really really tall people so the average height there will be higher. Valencia in Spain will have a different average height:
wikipediaOn anecdotal evidence (i.e. I'm 5ft 4ins *cough* and am a midget in the Netherlands, but bang on average in Spain), height is relative.
As for my relative amount of anger, no comment ha ha ha

That's true, he's average height at around 5'10 but I do try my best to derail his self confidence by referring to him as short. I figure it will make him easier to manipulate. Hasn't worked so far.

At 6'2" I'm quite happy with my height. In fact to be a few inches smaller or taller would be okay also. Does my height affect how jealous I get? Probably not. I do however get envious when I see someone driving by with an Aston Martin

The Dutch are just f..ing enormous, I feel like a real midget whenever I go there. I reckon they can't get fat cos there's no room so they grow upwards!

German guys do tend to tower over my 5'7" frame, but I've been able to reframe any innate jealousy: I don't look gangly on the dancefloor, don't have to stoop on the u-bahn and don't have hands like a silverback gorilla.
Can see the 'natural selection' benefits of height though. I remember sitting in a restaurant with a friend (about 5'8") and striking up conversation with two German girls on the table next to us. We were getting on famously and talked of heading off to a bar together, until we all stood up. Suddenly they were blonde, willowy elves and we were hobbits. "Oh is that how tall you are?" said one of the girls helpfully, and we all laughed awkwardly at the oh so hilarious unlikelihood of us getting off with them. Again, all successfully reframed: lanky bitches.

While looking for something else, I stumbled upon some link which deals with this topic. Here's the link:
Your height dictates how jealousy strikesAnyways, I aint much into this survey stuff where they enquire a bunch of people and come up with some statistics, which aint foolproof/goofproof.

I am 5' 10" and I never get jealous when I see a 6' woman.
My soon to be ex is 5' 10", I think it bothered him when I would wear high heels, he is also very jealous and is quite like a rabid pit bull even when a man would look at me.

Hmmm, there must be something to it, Spanish guys are known to be jealous. They are also very short. (Not all of them of course.)
