Hey everyone,

For the last few years I've said that I will do a parachute jump THIS year and I haven't done. This year IS the year and so I am planing on doing a jump in the summer. It'll be my first time so I plan a tandem jump. Has anyone been to a good place in Berlin for this or can anyone give me advice on prices. I've looked around the net and found somewhere for €180 and add a whole load on if you want photo's/video. Any helpful advice would be appreciated. Would consider going out of Berlin if I can save some of the cost but as long as the train/bus fares to get there don't hike it up!

As someone with more than 200 jumps to my record (both military and civilian), allow me to give you a tad bit of advice. If there is one thing that you don't want to get on the cheap, that would be parachuting. You really don't want to go with some agency that cuts corners to make their service more affordable. Really check in to the company that you want to use and look for reviews or customer feedback. It appears that you want this one jump to be your only jump for thrill reasons. I'd hate for it to be your only jump for "other" reasons.

My husband and I are both active skydivers (200+ jumps and counting). We jump near Muenster, but that's a bit far for you to go. However, we've also jumped at Take Off Fallschirmsport in Fehrbellin, northwest of Berlin. The staff was very professional and knowledgable. The facilities are great, and the airplane (Cessna Grand Caravan) is comfortable. The price for a tandem is typical; you probably won't find much cheaper unless they have a smaller plane and don't go as high (3000 vs. 4000 meters). Yes, 1000 meters makes a difference.

Here are two links to help you. The first is their website. The second is their entry on Dropzone.com. You can click on the reviews tab to see what others have to say about them. Or you can search for other dropzones in your area.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I jumped with Take Off in Fehrbellin a year and a half ago. They flew me up in a plane, strapped a man to my back, and tossed me out. Insofar as that's what you're looking for, they were perfectly fine. We took the regional train out there, and they sent someone to pick us up at the station, so no worries with transport.

You can reportedly do it much cheaper in Poland, but would you want to?

Why not? There's a USPA rated dropzone north of Warsaw. I haven't been yet, but we are considering going sometime this season. The only bad thing is that their usual airplane is an AN-2 (antanov). Talk about a slow ride to altitude. I jumped out of one once that took 20 minutes just to get to 4000 feet. Ugh. Gotta plan a trip there according to what guest planes they have scheduled.
