Anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of GTA:San Andreas uncut and in English in Munich?

Thanks but it's not exactly 'in Munich' is it?

Play are crap. I've had problems with them charging my cc weeks before they post the product, Zoll problems (7 eur on a 26gbp DVD), not processing orders etc. etc.

That's not including the problems with the German postal system stealing every other delivery mad.gif

No, it's not in Munich, but it gets delivered to your door in Munich, so...

I've been buying from them for years, and the only problems I've had was when the delivery sometimes took 2 wks as it went to the customs.

As for having orders messed up, or orders "stolen", never happened to me!

I have had 2 of those Zoll slips asking to pay, but since they don't tell you how to pay (there is no bank account or anything), then I have never paid, nor has my friend who's ordered from them for many years now, never heard anything frm them since...

But, each to their own..

I've bought through ebay in the UK before now and been ripped off once. It helps if you know someone who can forward it for you via FEDEX or UPS from the UK.
BigGaz
You are supposed to go to the post office to pay the Zoll. I payed the 7eur as the postman was at the door asking for it.

The german postal system is 'the worst in the world for missing mail' - according to an Australian Postworker when my sister tried to Send an insured parcel from Sydney. The would not insure it :-(

And sods law the parcel never arrived.

Play always send a replacement DVD/CD/Game if it goes missing and they offered to Refund the Zoll this one time. Fair Play.com to them blink.gif

THeres a place on Schiller str. I think it's called PC Spiel. It's just after you cross over Landwehr str heading away from the Hauptbahnhof. IT's on the Right hand side. The sign is in Pink & black. The definately have UK/American PC games in there. Not sure about P2 though

I've had games delivered from amazon.co.uk to Munich before now. Came within a week. You can get a bit whacked on the postage but it tells you what the total will be before you pay.

Games in DE are so monsterously expensive (€60 a pop for old xbox titles anyone?) that it may work out cheaper anyhow.

Amazon UK notified me that my recent order, including San Andreas, shipped yesterday. Will be interesting to see if/when it arrives since another poster mentioned that the version sold here might be somewhat censored.

On a related note, I tried to buy the latest Call of Duty PC game from PC Spiel. They only had the censored version because the original game contained swastikas and the like. Even without the Nazi crap I find it odd that German game-players would want to play a video game where they got to kill German soldiers.

I've used play.com quite a lot, and they're petty good. The only problem is that they're based in Jersey, which Germany considers to be a third-world country for tax purposes. That's typically okay for DVDs, but games are going to get expensive.

I've only once had to go and pick up a DVD from the post office. I'd ordered 3 DVDs, 2 of them arrived okay but the third never turned up. I thought I'd lost it in the post, but a couple of weeks later I got a slip of paper telling me to come pick it up. The bloke in the office asked me what it was, and I said "It's a DVD, like it says on the front of the package". He asked me how much it cost, and I said "£13.99, like it says on the front of the package". He asked me if I had an invoice, and I said "It's inside the package". So he opened it up, did some typing on his calculator, muttered a bit, gave me the DVD and told me I could go. Didn't have to pay anything - just waste a couple of hours travelling to the other side of Munich and back.

I don't really use any order systems any more, because (and perhaps I'm just unlucky) packages really do seem to go missing very often here, or get sent back to the sender without me being told about it, and I just don't want to risk it. Instead I just stock up on stuff when I'm back in the UK.

I'll probably just put GTA:SA on my xmas list smile.gif

I ordered the game from www.okaysoft.de thinking it would be safer/better/faster to use a German company. They said that it would be delivered when they get the delivery on the 28th. Today I got an email saying that now they have no concrete delivery time sad.gif

I realise now that I should have ordered it from Amazon UK biggrin.gif

Kit when you get it could you bring it round so I can copy it to my PS2 HDD biggrin.gif while I wait for my delivery.

@Potbelly

Yes, the shop on Schillerstrasse sells games in English, but they usually have a later release date, and are ca. EUR 10 more expensive than the German version.

The shop is, however, called PC Fun.

PS2 games can be copied?
UrbanAngel
"but games are going to get expensive"

I just got one of these slips when ordering The Sims 2, and the charge was only EUR 7.20 (or something) so it's not too much considering the game cost 32 quid in the first place.

Anyway, I'm happy up till now smile.gif
BigGaz
Copied. no.

Backed-Up. yes.

Aha!!

The shop Game Zone in Munich (www.gamezone.de) has the UNCENSORED ENGLISH version for EUR 60.
