Hey all,

Do you guys know of any cheap shoe shops around the Mitte area? I've looked in those asian run ones in Ku'damn but their sizes seem to be smaller than normal(?). I'm in the search for perfect ankle boots and heels!!

You may want to try Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg. You can walk there from Mitte, from Rosenthaler Platz. My gf used to like to shop there for shoes and clothes.

BTW, your thread title may be interpreted in two ways.. dry.gif

Sorry, since I have moved to a millionaires' village called Munich, all prices in Berlin appear cheap to me...

Well, I have to admit to having a dirty mind occasionally - the adjective "cheap" in your thread title can modify "women" as well as "shoe shop"...

How is your job hunt in Berlin going? Restauration Walden may fancy an English native speaker if you can pretend to be interested in their philosophy modelled on Henry David Thoreau. Another option for English speakers could be the Wild at Heart in Kreuzberg, a more leftist-alternative district than P'Berg (I guess you know already) - if you like their music.

Cheers from Munich

I haven't really browsed around many shoe shops, but there was a place in a shopping arcade that had really cheap shoes - i think it was called "Tack" (hm, what a fitting title...I mean, most of it really looked like bargain bin trash...but there was the odd pair that looked quite nice). Plus they had every colour of flats imaginable! So, if that's your thing..? Will post if i discover any hidden gems. Right now all I can think about is getting a nice pair of flats from the 'Camper' off Ku'damm...but that's not exactly cheap! Ah, shoes...

in most shopping arcades (malls), like at Frankfurter allee, Gesundbrunnen, Shonhauser Allee... there are these big shoe shops that sell knock off shoes moderately cheap.

Around the corner from the Gesundbrunnen Arcaden (Gesundbrunnen Station) on the high street there a lot of shoe shops selling plastic shoes for really cheap (€10)

I need comfy real leather shoes that will last more than a couple wearings and absolutely love Tamaris (they have their own shops and are also stocked at a chain called 'activ' shoe) They have decent looking shoes and are the cheapest I've found for a really well made shoe (between €40 and €90) They've got a branch at the Alexa at Alexander Plz.

define cheap? hmm 30 euro for a pair of boots? i found the perfect pair but the 41 wouldn't even fit me.. damn big feet! I think i'll give up on the cheap part and just get a good pair that will last me longer...

thanks all smile.gif

Ya I have small feet and usually I have to go for more expensive shoes...but they last!

I agree, better too spend a little bit more on something that will last you, especially if your feet are not exactly average size. I'm a 38, so pretty average. Just think of all the great shoes you'll find in the designer sales if your feet are smaller/bigger than average. In saying that, my dad (who never buys expensive shoes) bought a pair of Prada trainers in a sale...he wore them twice and the sole was coming away. Not a happy bunny.

I love Camper - not exactly cheap, but they last. I have a pair of cute leather trainers which have been fantastic - i've had them for about 4 years and they are still looking good. I was walking down Kottbusser Damm last week and there was this little shoe shop with a bright pink front, some of the flats looked pretty nice...and i don't think the price was out of the way. If I remember the name of the shop I'll find out if they have another branch in Mitte.

How hard is it to find a 43? In the US, I mostly just shop for shoes online, because finding 11s in real stores isn't worth the hassle. On a related topic, is it any easier to find clothes for tall women than it is in the US?

Most stores do not carry bigger than 41 or 42. There is an over/under sizes store on Schloßstrasse across from those big shopping centers (north of "das Schloss"). I've never been there though... although I have considered it.
