Oh you're being ironic. Good. I was just about to uninvite you from the Translators' Meetup next Wednesday.

I'm not surprised. LiveJournal has been translated into various languages by users as well. I do not think that anyone got paid for it there. But then there are also loads of other volunteers doing other work on LJ without getting paid.
You know, if people have an interest in something, even a website that may not belong to them, some put work / time into it to improve it. Of course you can consider it cheap of the company, but then it is always a voluntary contribution, not like anyone in particular was asked to do this. And I suppose he enjoyed his work.

This would be along the lines of the famous infinite chimp number with infinite time?(note the sneaky comparison to FB users, even though I am on it myself ) Yeah I suppose you could but , I always thought you people had deadlines?

I guess it depends on who you are doing it for. I would like to contribute more to Wikipedia, and feel the best way would be to expand English-language articles concerning Germany by translating the (more expansive) German articles. But then I consider Wikipedia to be a Good Thing™, whereas I consider Facebook to be a waste of bandwidth. The other big difference is that Facebook has the financial resources to pay for translations, whereas Wikipedia doesn't.
