Advice on using an OEM version of Windows Vista

Cheaper, but can I use it on multiple computers?

I have decided to take the plunge and get vista for my little computer at home.

As it way to over priced for the retail version I have been looing at the nice, cheaper OEM versions.

However I have read some scary stuff regarding 'once activated on one machine you will never be able to activate it on another'.

In principle I will not be able to build another machine and use this version of vista.

I am not sure if they also said this about XP prof OEM but I have a german version of that and its been installed on one PC (later wiped as I got sick of having everything in german) and is now installed on a laptop. No problens with activation etc.

Has anyone real experience regarding this (for example, installed it, formatted HDD, installed on other copmputer etc)?

Just call microsoft and tell them you upgraded your machine and you need a new key, if you can understand the 3 million digit key code from the indian who can barely speak english on the other side, you'll be fine. I have it installed on 2 machines (god knows why).

I wouldnt put vista on unless you've got alot of ram, it runs on my laptop with 4 gigs but only about has good as xp ran with 1.
