Anyone know where one can buy root beer?
ThePigsInBlankets
I know of a few places in Munich, but none in Hamburg, unfortunately. I can tell you, however, that I have noticed that many Subway establishments have it as part of their fountain drink assortment. Might give that a try up there.

(The first time I came across it I bought a whole bunch and went on a root beer float bender. My roommate thinks RB tastes like toothpaste but I think it's nectar of the gods.)

Barq's is avail at Subway Sandwiches.

Most Karstadts in the finefood section have some cans there. And sometimes the Esso Stations have Root Beer.

Hmm...Carm, I think that's just down where you are. I'm waiting for it to get up here though.

thanks!

But Carm's right, try the food section at Karstadt Mönckebergstraße, they have lots of "food from home" smile.gif

Maybe you also ask at
Graeff's Getränkemarkt
Am Osdorfer Born 28
22549 Hamburg
Tel: 040-807 88 70
Fax: 040-80 78 87 17
Couldn't find it seaching for "root", but might be worth phoning them. They claim to be the "bester Getränkemarkt Deutschlands"...

It's also worth trying little Getränkemärkte round the cornder from where you live. There's a tiny one in Eimsbüttel, they say you should always ask if there's something you can't find, in most cases they can get it for you within two days. They even have Augustiner on stock *g*
