I've finally taken the plunge, moving to Germany

Advice sought on finding TEFL work around Hamburg

I've finally gone and booked my ferry crossing from the UK for June 20th 2008!

The thing i'm most apprehensive about is quitting my job in the UK and trying to sort out all the paperwork etc for jobseekers etc before I leave, and doing the same once I arrive in Germany. If anyone from the UK has any advice on what is the best way to approach this then please let me know!

I'm also looking for work once I arrive in Germany, either in the Hamburg or Lueneburg area, so any advice would be much appreciated. I was considering TEFL but do not have the time what with my current work commitments to take a course in the UK before I leave. Is it possible to do a course in Germany?

Anyway, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers everyone.

Barri :-)

Googling such obscure phrases as "TEFL COURSES IN HAMBURG" brings up some surprising results.

I find google usually has the answer to almost everything. And, quite often, in the first 3 or 4 rows is exactly what I'm looking for.
Try adding a few more keywords. That narrows it down very quickly. For example, type in: how to google. Then see what you get!

If you think you'll be able to exist teaching English here - you must be able to live
at a very meagre level!

Well actually Lüneburg is quite nice - although I have only been there twice - each time on a company Christmas night out... Its a nice area...
Agree its a bit difficult living off thin air...

You might try contacting some people directly at the Hamburg English-Language Teaching Association.
