It seems to me that there are more well-preserved middle-aged women than men. Then and now:
Edit: The upload just never finishes...I was trying to upload some then and now photos of Kurt Russel and Pierce Brosnan, Arnold Schwarenegger and Rod Stewart (big change there) etc. For some reason the upload just hangs, although they aren't large files. Nevermind. Maybe I'll try again later.

At 83, Newman is not exactly middle-aged though...

If you are comparing celebs then of course the woman look better preserved, they get more nipping and tucking done.

I almost spit out my tea when I saw what Rod Stewart was wearing in his earlier picture! Honestly, was there a time when that was actually in fashion?
His track record is pretty good, don't knock him.
The best thing about this thread so far is I've worked out I'm not middle aged yet!

I agree with Alika...not a good thread to read whilst drinking tea!
I wonder if he wrote "Do ya think I'm sexy" while wearing a banana hammock!
It is amazing middle aged men usually have bigger breasts than their wives!

You folks sure have a strange idea of what middle aged is, Arnie is 60, Roger Moore is 80, Rod is 63 and Clint is 73. Even Richard Gere is 58.
Leave em Allers , my still under 40 status seems to make me not yet middle aged round these parts.

It appears you should still be in short trousers!

One of the best examples: Neil Finn
Left picture from 1980, right picture from Live EarthHe's still got that touch of the schoolboy about him, even though he's 49.
But I bet he can tell better stories these days and that is a fine thing.

Isn't it great! I feel like a young stud now. Let's hear it girls-- is 70 the new 35?

Wouldn't 50 be about middle-age?
Allershausen
Mar 5 2008, 11:38 am
How many get to 100? Actually I don't know how you would work it out, maybe it's halfway through adult life, which means say 18 to 80, which works out at 49, so yeah around 50 would work out ok I guess.

At the grand old dead age of 250 I think it levels itself out.
And Rod Stuart has always looked weird.

hell i still think Rod looks good.

His wife is kinda horsey though. Saw him several months ago on the street and he looks quite hip.
Well at least Rod doesn't have knots tied in his hanky (or whatever the hell he's got on his head)
Pierce Brosnan is 55, (born in 1953) so I'd say rather squarely middle-aged then.
Thanks Leky for the photo posts!

40-60 must be middle-aged I reckon?
Getting old sucks.

No prob, got them all in an email, didn't get the Kurt Russell one though.
How about some female before & after
the facelifts
I'd say these days it's definatly going backwards. What I was a kids you'd think 35 was getting there, definatly 40. Now as 40 approaches it seems it may be a little further away?
Perhaps that's just the realisation that however old you get it's how you act that matters?

It's weird - cos you instantly know something is wrong, but its difficult to actually pin down what is wrong??
Do you know what I mean?
It's a bit sad really 'cos I think looking at the earlier photos, if he had left well alone, he would probably be a good looking middle-aged guy.
He looks like the guy they poisoned in the Ukrane.
Speaking of Viktor Yushchenko:

Now, that's scary...

Watching TV a few years ago with a friend and his young son. Jackson 5 video comes on. Young son, "Look Daddy, a black Michael Jackson!" I nearly spit out my beer.

Some men really do look better with age. I think John Travolta, Bowie and Rod Stewart look better now than then - I would like to know their diet and exercise regimes - sadly Rod Stewart has been diagnose with Thyroid cancer.
I am not a fan but Cliff Richard amazes me how he stays young looking - definitely some false barnet in there somewhere tho.

The photos are all the same person Ruthie - Mickey Rourke. The lucky bastard got to rip Kim Basinger's knickers off in the film 9 and half weeks.
Kim Basinger walked out on him when he brought home another women for a threesome - that must of been a real bummer.

Mickey Rourke (beaten by ER)
he had a bad lifting job, that made his eyes too tight.
holy fuck mickey rourke's face should be renamed 'rourke's drift' - it's wandered all over the place

Given the amount of substance and alcohol abuse that Mickey Rourke's been through, he looks remarkably well.
By the way, the answer to "what is middle aged?" is 51. I've just done it and it hurts. 50 was OK. Big party etc. 51 stinks. But I'll get over it and then my old maxim will apply.
"I will probably feel old/middle aged next year."
I'm growing old disgracefully. It's a calling, a mission if you will.

Erm, no it's not, he had his face butchered by someone claiming to be a plastic surgeon.
