I will be moving house at the end of April to a gorgeous apartment just off the Lidwurmstrasse in the direction of the Wiesen and just north of Poccistrasse and the KVR.

I had a little explore in Sunday and found a few things but can any of the locals let me know a little bit more about the hidden secrets of this area.

In particular:

1. bars, restaurants

2. interesting shops

3. gyms

4. swimming pools

5. newsagents selling English newspapers

6. Anything else appropriate
Carm
There is a good Greek- corner of Adalbert str (other side of Bavariastr)
Good Thai- Thuy just of Lindwurm on Sensorstr (I think)
Cafe Blue does nice brunch on sunday

thanks

anyone know if there are newsagents selling english papers?
Kay
No idea about English papers in the area, sorry.

Just off the Sendling part of Lindwurmstr. there's a nice Italian restaurant called Piccola Italia (corner Aberlestr./Alramstr., opposite the supermarket). One block further up (corner Alramstr./Daiserstr.) you'll find the Sendlinger Augustiner, which is (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) a "Raucherparadies".

As for swimming pools, Südbad is in the same neighbourhood (Valleystr.) but it's currently closed for renovation and won't reopen before October.

There's a gym at the corner of Lindwurmstr. and Bavariastr. More importantly Incidentally, Jacques' Wein Depot is just a bit further up, on Lindwurmstr.

thanks kay. I'm actually at the Goetheplatz part of Lindwurmstrasse so Sendling is a bit of a schlep
sea-king
I can assure you BTC, your entryway will smell of urine for a couple of months during and after Wiesn time that´s for sure!
Any spare rooms we could book for a wee kip during the Wiesn?? Please, pretty please! smile.gif

Sendling is a bit of a schlep

I guess it depends on one's definition of "schlep". biggrin.gif

FWIW, from the KVR to the intersection of Lindwurmstr./Bavariastr. (read: Greek restaurant, gym) it's all of three minutes on foot; add another minute for Piccola Italia, two for Sendlinger Augustiner.
