Hi.

We have visitors coming in that are really interested in taking a short day cruise down the Rhein (Mittelrhein), but it looks like Köln-Düsseldorfer (KD) doesn't start up service until March 31. Too late for us. Does anyone have any recommendations for other operators that run earlier cruises?

Thanks a lot for any tips.

I will give you a note of what I learned.. I took a day trip with my children and I have to say it was the LONGEST DAY I have ever spent the river trip seems like such a nice idea but frankly it is money well spent to drive ( even if you have to hire a car) to what you want to see. or take the Bus tour.. Good luck

I have family coming in May and I'd love to take them on a river cruise. Does anyone have any really good suggestions?

I have heard about one in Frankfurt that is only an hour or two long.

@Bohemka, even though it will be to late for your visitors by then, you are more than welcome to go with us in May!

The KD line run the bigger boats.

This one

http://www.pss-tickets.de/siebengebirgslin...lisch/start.htm

hasn't published the new timetable yet but may be worth calling to see when they begin.

And this one

http://www.b-p-s.de/Tagesfahrplan.php?datu...gen=&lan=en

starts the timetable at Easter.

I agree these boat rides can be a bit long for children so if you are thinking of taking kids with you don't try to go too far. You can buy a ticket for any distance along the route and even catch the train one way and get the boat back.
