Every week or two the Indians in Munich organise a stammtisch via the Toytown Munich forum.

My parents are in town..so I will just come to the next one...maybe the others can join in.

I was down with my yearly flu routine. Will definitely make it next time.

There is an upcoming MEGA DESI event (Santoor Concert by Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Oct. 31st 2004, 1800 Hrs) being organised by a group called Asha which works globally to collect financial and technical resources for educating underprivileged children in India.

After the concert excellent Desi food would be available from a stall put up by the Swagat restaurant. So, look forward to a wonderful musical evening while supporting an equally wonderful cause!!

If you want to buy tickets either send an email to asha_munich@yahoo.com or buy the tickets directly from any counter of Muenchen Ticket in the city.

Last year's concert featuring Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia was a runaway success and attracted ~600 people at least half of them desis!

Xargon and I meet this sunday for chess. We all could meet later Sunday evening if possible.

ok, lets do this. Xargon and I will meet at the Arc on Sunday at 2 PM. We play chess for about 3-4 hours. Why don't you all stop by during that time? We will decide where we wanna go then and there and go somewhere else for a nice dinner. There are tons of restaurants to choose from.

Are they showing the cricket highlights on Sunday...might show up early if they showing it at the arc.

Why don't u guys PM me when u finalized ur plans and we can meet up!

@pankaj: What time do u plan to get there? I m not sure India is gonna kick butt...seems more like the usual collapsewill happen when they bat again..anyways whenever i watch a game..india loses..so try to stay away and help as much as i can...

We usually meet at about 2 pm in the afternoon. But I can be there a bit early and catch some cricket action before that. I have to confirm with Hazaa and to how early we can be there.

I am also confirming with harry. He is usually there around 11 am on cricket days. But if he opens early I will be there as soon as he opens on Sunday. This match is getting really interesting. Hope to see you all on Sunday much earlier than 2 PM.

I'll be at the bar just before 11am. If you don't mind the cleaners working around you, then you are welcome to come and watch the final session from 11am.

Chess and dinner at Sangeet was nice last night guys. Hope to see more Desis and some Desettes next time.

Guys why don't we decide on Friday 22nd or Saturday 23rd for our first real Indian Stammtisch?

I am up for any restaurant but I think Sangeet is also a good choice.

Hey Xargon did you see dino bhai and hari on TV last night? They had a show on best Indian restaurant in Munich and it was about sangeet. Funny that we were there last night.

Anyway, lets hear some opinions on restaurant choice and dates.

I say Sangeet not only cuz it has great ambi but also because we know the staff personally and we will get what we want.

I am flexible with the dates. Friday sounds like a good idea. Let us hear from the other folks here too. We cna also try Goa again, if someone is up for it.

I have not turned the TV on in ages man. Sure you were not dreaming the whole thing after that lovely meal

As of now lets say Sangeet but it is still open for debate.

Just wondering if an Indian who hasn't set foot in India yet (what a shame!...but I'm working on exploring the land of my forefathers) would fit in with the Stammish thing??

I just called Goa restaurant and confirmed that they are open on Saturdays. They are closed only for lunch. I think we are allright.

Since he is french a dip in seine is ok and if he is in Munich right now even a dip in Isar is acceptable.

Relax, we gladly welcome your hubby. I might bring my own Bavarian chica. Basically anybody can bring anyone. It is a friendly gathering under the name Indian Stammtisch.
Just as long as you can sing and dance around the bushes like they do in Bollywood you all will do just fine.

BTW I will take care of reservation. We will start confirmations on Thursday.

they dont seem to mind in the song sequences shot in Swiss though..

Something always intrigues me... when they sing in the Alps, in 4 feet deep snow... the hero always has warm clothing whereas the heroine is scantily clad and still looks lovestruck... i shd say our heroines are really brave...

or the male audience is really frustrated ...

@roots- We want people to show up...so do not scare them by promising to sing!

@Arsh (u might think about changing that name )They do show some hindi movies at some theaters once in a while. Usually any Indian spice shop carry the details. It is usually just one screening.

I would love to join you guys... but i'm leaving on the 28th to India and I've got loads of things to take care of before leaving for the big break... If i have the time on saturday... i'll pop in at 7:30 in goa. but cant be sure right now...

But will be back by the end of Jan next year... so i guess i can meet you guys then...
