Does anyone know of a hair stylist who is good with cutting hair for young children? I have a 3 year old boy who is still scared when the shaver is used but is ok if the stylist is gentle and knows how to coax him. He still doesn't want to sit in the chair, so I've had to hold him while his hair is being cut back home.

Hi!

Nice to see a Singaporean here. I am a Malaysian, live in Germany since 2001.
My son, he si going to 6's old and goes for his haircut at a Türkish hairstudio in Höchst. He used to scare for haircut but he goes everytime with my huband after 3rd times offer from my husband to go for haicut with him. Before it, he will accompany my husband to hairstudio and looking at it. They are very friendly and serve my son also water or juice or sweets when he scare for haircut.

Maybe, you should have a try that your son go together with papa for haircut and they will have some "Father and Son Break". At the sametime, you may go for a coffee or short shopping for 30 minutes. wink.gif

Hi,

I am a hairstylist, and I have to tell you this is totally normal that they are scared. We tell the kids forever don't play with scissors and don't talk to strangers and a haircut combines both. Try asking the hairstylist to show him on her hand that the clippers don't bite/hurt. Also what always worked with my little clients was a lollipop. They are very busy with the lollipop that (as long as the hairstylist is quick) you should be able to have his haircut in the time he is busy with the lollipop. Also try practicing at home with him by putting a towel around his shoulders and pretending to cut his hair, if your husband has an electric razor it is a similar sound to the clippers.
I hope this helps!
