@Nemmy: Your comment was interesting !! Is your wife visiting such a bad thing?? ;-))

Hahah Lenou. No but it is unfortunate because she won't want to go cycling so if the trip is that weekend I can't go!

I'd be up for it, but I don't think I can do the 6th either. If the 13th is also out, how about the 20th?

Hi,
I can make either 6 or 13 July, but not 20th July
Nemmy
Jun 28 2008, 11:59 am
20th is ok with me.
aspiadas
Jun 28 2008, 12:49 pm
So personally I have a preference on the 6th. Shall we keep this date and also plan one for the 20th... I am not too sure I can make it myself on that day but I will look into it.

So scrapped the idea for the ride to Düsseldorf on the 6th and move it to the 20th.

20th would be great for me too - need to cycle off some of this damn Weizenbier... all I need now is a bike.

Jul 1 2008, 7:51 pm
Try here - dates and places of the markets at the bottom of the page. There's one at Agneskirche this coming Saturday.

So the short ride to Bonn was nice.. so let's do double the distance and ride out to Düsseldorf on the 20th July.
Nemmy
Jul 10 2008, 7:58 am
Double... erm... I will have to see how I am feeling closer to the time!!!
At the moment it's a tentative yes. Is there a stop point at halfway there to come home? lol
aspiadas
Jul 10 2008, 1:20 pm
There are many stops along the way (and many pubs)... Nice ice cream place in Hitdorf is a must.

Jul 10 2008, 9:01 pm
Hi Ian and everyone else-
is this still happening on the 20th? i'm interested.
Nemmy
Jul 10 2008, 10:01 pm
Yes it should be happening still, hence the posts about it
Lenou
Jul 13 2008, 1:15 pm
I am in! Although I am not sure I will last the 40kms...! ;-)) but will do my best!!
aspiadas
Jul 13 2008, 2:46 pm
Lenou - I think you may find that it's more closer to 60 Km... We should maybe plan to ride past S-Bahn stations ?
Lenou
Jul 13 2008, 3:17 pm
Oh my god...!! then we definitely need to ride near the S Bahn stations..! or plan many pub stops along the way!!
Nemmy
Jul 17 2008, 6:19 am
I am hereby giving my unreserved apology that I shall not be attending Ride to Düsseldorf this weekend.
I enjoyed the Bonn ride but 20km more I fear will ensue in my inability to walk or move my legs for the following week...
Also, looks like it's going to be crap weather on Sunday...
Maybe the next "Bonn-esque" distance one?
PrinceOfDenmark
Jul 17 2008, 7:57 am
Weather for Sunday shows gewitter at the moment, nice, anybody seen anything different?
aspiadas
Jul 17 2008, 8:00 am
So apart from Lenou, is there anyone else interested? I fear we will have to postpone yet again... also as Nemmy said, the weather is not looking to hot for Sunday
PrinceOfDenmark
Jul 17 2008, 8:08 am
Yes, I am up for it, as long as the weather behaves.

Jul 17 2008, 8:56 am
So that is me, Lenou, yourself and Jason ??? - What about the F1 though - I heard you are a big fan and it's Hockenheim this w/e...???
PrinceOfDenmark
Jul 17 2008, 10:08 am
It is indeed Hockenheim this weekend, but I am quite happy to record it and watch it when I get home. Might spur me on to cycle faster.
The problem with the British GP weekend was that it was also the Wimbledon final and I wanted to watch that too. There are only so many hours in the day, so the bike ride lost out. Priorities you know!

Jul 17 2008, 6:39 pm
I am still in, provided the weather isn't too crap!!

Jul 18 2008, 10:06 am
We could bring umbrellas and let the wind take us all the way to Ddf...
Anyway I just checked the forecast and it's not looking toooo bad for Sunday

Jul 19 2008, 12:11 am
Actually the forecasts have improved.. won't be very warm but looks like it may stay dry.. Guess that can change though. At least I can get to see the F1 on telly if we don't go

Jul 19 2008, 10:11 am
Ok there has been a change of plan from my part. Due to the possibility that I may be riding alone, I have decided to change the target. Destination is now Leverkusen and back. Should not take more than an hour to get there.. quick coffee and back one more hour. I will start from Rodenkirchen at 10 am... if anyone else is interested, meet me under the A4 bridge on the upper cycling path on the Rhine side. Pod.. if you are still interested, we can meet you under the Zoobrücke on the Rhine ?
I know this is a tad early, but I would like to get back for the GP.
Weather is saying -

I'm still in, coffee (and cake) along with getting back in time for the GP definitely has it's appeal
I'll meet you under the Zoobrücke, what time do you anticipate getting there and which side exactly is the 'Rhine' side?
Hopefully as it is now not so far Lenou might come along too...Lenou???
jason1788
Jul 19 2008, 10:24 am
I'm up for it too - in fact was still up for Dus, but this sounds like a welcome downgrade!
Ian, by "Rhine side" I assume you mean the side of the Rhine that is next to the Rhine, or perhaps the other side
aspiadas
Jul 19 2008, 11:01 am
Hi.. sorry for the confusion - I meant left side of the Rhine... and for the Zoobrücke - will also meet you on the LHS of the Rhine - ie. your side.. Lets say between 10.15 and 10.30...
The ride should take us up the left side of the Rhine, up past Ford and then we cross and go back through Leverkusen - hopefully finding a place that does coffee and cake.
if it does happen to be lashing down in the morning I guess it will be off... but fingers crossed for good weather. And just in case you clicked the link on my last post, that was actually the forecast for Madrid - sorry to deceive anyone
PrinceOfDenmark
Jul 19 2008, 11:59 am
aah, that rhine side of the Rhine. Ok.
We can take a 'rain' check tomorrow morning, though as we are not going so far and are coming back pretty much straight away, I'm not that bothered if it is a bit wet - though I think I draw the limit at doing the whole thing in full goretex.
Lenou
Jul 19 2008, 1:21 pm
Ok, I will still be there, if it doesn't rain tomorrow morning ;-) !!
however, I am not sure exactly where we are meeting? do you mean the Konrad Adenauer Ufer?
PrinceOfDenmark
Jul 19 2008, 4:51 pm
yep, down on the tow-path (or what ever it is), Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer side of the river, under the Zoobrücke.
Lenou
Jul 19 2008, 6:11 pm
