Salsa dance clubs suitable for beginners

Venues for dancing without being out-classed

Hi Toytowners!
Can you recommend a good club where beginners with a basic Salsa technique can go? We want to dance without being completely out-classed! We would love good drinks and maybe somewhere we could sit down and rest our feet some of the evening! What time does it kick off and is it hot?
Cheers!

There's a new place called Latino's next to the 8 seasons in Odeonsplatz. It's what used to be El Palacio in Kultfabrik, but they closed that one and opened up a much nicer club in a much better location.
On Fridays they play more a bit of everything in terms of latin rythms and saturdays are mainly salsa. The throw in a few sets of reggaeton and merengue as well.
Don't worry if you go and you are not an expert, everybody goes to enjoy and no one is looking at what you do. Drinks are good as well.
If you want to have a place to sit I would say you call and make a reservation.

There are loads of places to dance Salsa in Munich and it's always a mixed bunch of beginners, intermediates and profis but as Panama says...noone is looking at you - just doing their thing and enjoying the music.

Friday nights -> Max Emanuel
Sunday nights -> Skyline

There's a place called 2Rooms at Karlsplatz (been wanting to try that for ages) - think they have something on Tuesdays - maybe weekends too and on the last Sat. of every month (you just missed it!) there is a Salsafest in the Schrannenhalle with a live band. It's good fun and very busy...there is also a crash course first to show the basic steps then it's a free for all.

In my experience one tends to get very warm while dancing so wear the bare minimum if you can get away with it!

Have fun smile.gif

There's a place near Kultfabrik as well, called Circulo. As a beginner I found it quite good there mainly because the dance floor is very large and there tends to be more room for everyone.

I went to 8 Seasons, Latin Bar on Saturday night and it was really good music and the dancers where fantastic! Gosh how do they shake their thing without a drop of sweat!!

Would love to learn so any recommendations for absolute beginners would be great.

There's some other threads on this I believe. The classes that I went to as a beginner were at the Bodyfactory in Obersendling:

There's a fixed monthly course fee of 50 Euros and you can attend as many lessons as you wish - they run each skill level once per week. I thought that it was a pretty good course, good value and the instructor was good, although the groups can get quite large. The course is done in German but the instructor can also speak English I think.

This is where I did my beginner's course too. Jörg was very good but the location was unfortunately too awkward to get to for me so I didn't continue. Would love to refresh at some point though. Problem with Circulo is you have to register as a couple to learn Salsa where as at the Bodyfactory that is not the case - you change around during the lesson. The "Abschlussparty" at the end of each course is also fun, giving the opportunity to practice your moves.

Tops!!

Had a quick review on the website and there is a new beginners dance class starting tomorrow 4th March, from 7pm. If anyone fancy joining me then please drop me a mail - I called and made some initial enquiries and apparently they have a shortage of women but plenty of men!

I also started at Bodyfactory, have been a regular for a while now. Obersendling is a weird location, but Bodyfactory also have a dance party in 2rooms (Karlsplatz Stachus) every Thursday. I would be happy to show you guys around.
