the theme of the first issue is micro-power.

imagine an apartment with three people and four rooms of equal size. how is it decided what happens with the extra room? it is a space where power struggles become matter --- in their realization or their absence.

through fiction, poetry, anecdote and commentary, in the extra room, berlin writers explore how a toothbrush, a phone call or a glance can become a battlefield.

Is it just me or does this all sound like pretentious wattle. To tell a story you tell a story it has to be griping engaging and entertaining not,
