Yes, its here again!!!...and last year's meetup saw some 50 people getting together down in Stuttgart Spring Beer Festival, from Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Geneva, Freiberg, Bensheim, Wiesbaden, Stuttgart and lots others! Lots of beer, singing, chicken-eating, dancing on tables followed by bumper cars! And we were well looked after by the Stuttgart crew!
This year we are aiming for the weekend of April 12th. We already have interest from Team Stuttgart, Team Geneva and Team Heidelberg, and also a certain very recent ex-Wiesbadener lady who lives in England now who is very tempted to come over for it.
Anyone else interested? Its some time off yet, but please express interest on the thread, and block it in your calendars. I will coordinate news from the "other" Board where most of the Stuttgarters live.
Should be fun!!!

roll up roll up !!!
yeah i'm in for sure... i may well travel up to stuttgart on friday night this time out so that i'm at peak energy levels for the saturday drinkathon. The 6am start and 5 hour drive on sat morning last year kind of left me flagging way too early. I'm assembling Team Geneva and Team England 'A'...
will be cool to catch with some TTers :-)

Wonder if any TTs from Hessen will drive there...

hi Billy,
I'm up for this! There is a tiny chance I will get dragged to England, but I'm not planning on it.. I'm kindof 90% sure I'll be there for that weekend! So put me down

Feb 28 2008, 5:57 pm
ooooooohhhh, I think we'd be up for this! How's everyone getting down there? Are people staying or travelling back the same day?
JDee, you gonna book tables again?
JDee
Feb 29 2008, 11:09 am
I'd love to : )
But there is a tiny chance I won't be here + I think Billy will have a better handle on who everyone is! Whatever we should definetly reserve. Billy do you realise how busy it will be on the 12th, opening day and a Saturday too?! Anyway, it won't be a problem as long as you book. I took a peek at the website and there are only 3 tents... this is weird also, I think there were 5 last year and 7 at the Volksfest, so demand will be high. Maybe they are trying to encourage more people to come on other days, because the weekends will be full, or maybe some of the tents are not on the website..? As for the muzac. The tent we were in last year ( Gocklesmaier ) could be ok ( certainly better than the Schwaebisch Wurzels or whoever they were last year ) the bands in the Schwabenbrau and Wasenwirt look a bti dodgy on the 12th.. there are better bands the weekend after but... well I can go twice! That said the Schwabenbrau tent is really good, I like the beer in there too. Dilemas ay

Hi Rilana, it depends really. When I first went to this two years ago, I went down and up in the same day but it was a real trek, and I had to leave the group early as the last train I could get meant me leaving around 9pm. Stuttgart has a dedicated area for Festivals which is a little out of town.
The following year, I decided to stay over and it was a lot better! There is an inexpensive Hostel that we discovered which is great, and has single/double/dormitory rooms. Its a lot better than a hostel actually and we've regularly stayed there when we visit Stuttgart and stay over.
There will be a group staying over for sure: Team Geneva will stay over, and probably Team Heidelberg will stay too. There is a great Sunday brunch place very close to the Hostel that we go to.
Once I get an idea of people coming down, I'll post the hostel info on the board for people to start deciding the logistics. Hope this helps!

Hi JDee, long time no speaky! Yep, there was a debate around the date, but we went for the 12th because the head honcho of Team Geneva would be in Canada the following week, so we would have lost Team Geneva all together if we went for a different date.
I will probably join you on the second weekend too!

Yeh long time Buddha! To be honest it doesn't seem like a year ago!! Or maybe it does.. oh i don't know! Weren't you here for the Voksfest too? yeh, posts crossed but it all sounds good if you and Nic can organise between you. Just PM us the details when you reserve and how to pay etc.. got to say it was a little difficult collecting money in the tent ( noisy, people moving, not knowing everyones names etc!! ). So do it beforehand if you can. Looking forward!

Cheers Billy for the heads-up...I'm definitely up for this!!
Last year was awesome. Topped only by the Oktoberfest with me and Phil telling all the Aussies that they are shit at rugby and have no culture

And yes, it's my 30th bday that weekend so double reason to head down! Are there any decent strip clubs in Stuttgart for birthday celebrations afterwards...it's a bit far to drive to the Big Apple in Bratislava!

Hello Bohemka, great! I'm coordinating with the Stuttgarters and will know soon when I need to confirm a roll-call for booking tables. So will keep you posted. If you definitely want to go and are staying over on Sat 12th (recommended) you may want to book a place at Alex 30 hostel, where most of people will probably stay. The quality is higher than a normal Hostel, and there are single, double and triple rooms or even an apartment for 4!
Website:
Alex 30 Hostel, best to phone them and they will send a confirmation e-mail to you.
If you are Facebook, then PM me with your id and I will invite you to the Event that I've started.
It will be fun!!

Since I will also be at that same hen weekend I'll probably also have to give this one a miss too. But plans might change or indeed I might just change my mind. I know this doesn't help ticket/table reservation at the moment though.
I guess if I do go I'll drive but not there and back in one day...
