Buenas tardes, could use some quick help since I don't want to bother my german acquaintances with this (not that they would know how to deal with bamf anyway)

1. Is anyone able to call BAMF on the phone, the number they have listed (0911 943-6390) always gives me a busy signal. Am I dialing it right or do I need a area code? they also have +49 911 943-6390 but I'm dialing from prenzlauer berg
)

2. What does "Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung" mean ? is it some kind of certificate? I have the anmeldebestatigung

3. as anyone tried contacting them by email? it's the third day without reply

thx it's just I need some help from them to conduct my business but now I get it why the germans complain so much in the islands, bureaucracy is most definately a bitch

It's a certificate that states that you are an EU citizen and have the right to live in Germany. It replaces the Aufenthaltserlaubnis which was abolished a couple of years ago.

There are a few topics about it here on TT.

so to get the job I need that paper and to get that paper I need a job

I don't get it here it says I don't need anything else:

"Regulations for EU students

Citizens of the following EU countries do not need further approval of the Employment Agency in order to work in Germany:
Austria Belgium Denmark Finland France
Ireland Italy Greece Luxemburg Netherlands
Portugal Spain"

lordy so much for this european union bullshit I know turks and americans who had to fill less crap than I

You don't need to contact them, you need to contact the aliens registration office here in Berlin (they're in Wedding).

More info here:

Also click around there and there's an email address to get an appointment. I've found everyone at that office to be pleasant and helpful.

If you're from one of the *good* EU countries then you actually no longer need the freizugigkeitsbescheinigung. Not that that would have filtered down to Hartwig in HR, however.
shady
Hi there Belloc,

My Husband also got the "Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung" from the Meldamt as he is also an EU Citizen.

Have you have any success yet?
