Renting a conference room for up to 50 people

Advice on where to find inexpensive meeting places

Im trying to organise a meeting of about 20-50 people. All we need is a room with chairs and tables, a couple of sockets to plug in a Laptop and/or other electrical appliances, maybe Net Access...no food, no high tech something, just plain and simple. Its not a Business Meeting, nor a Birthday Party.

Obviously I have tried several Hotels, but their prices are astounding and we are on a very tight budget. Anyone got any idea where else to try? Ive done the Google search but seem to be unable to find anything...

How tight is your budget? Almost any commercial place will have a fairly high "dry" rental charge or expect a minimum commitment from you for food and beverage consumption. Outside of the city most village churches will often offer you their church hall (or "Pfarrheim") for a reasonable charge, so long as your activity does not have any religious or moral conflict to them.

The Budget would probably be around 30 Euro max per Person...Church Halls might be an idea...will try them, thanks YL6. There doesnt seem to be a market for non-business events...leastwise not for those on a smaller Budget.

Try looking up Business schools in Munich, they generally have facilities that you are looking for! Bayerische Akademie, Bayerstr 83-85 might be able to help!

Thanks a million!! They are indeed looking good... biggrin.gif

maybe the IHK Akademie is worth a call, very near to the Ostbahnhof, dont know if they rent out external but they have loads of modern meeting rooms / class rooms

Would it be worth contacting churches? They all have lovely big church halls which are empty most of the time and they would probably accept a donation? Just a thought...

When do you need this for?

Not til September or October. Thanks to all for your input, youve been invaluable. I think the Akademie is looking promising. Unless someone has a definite suggestion for a venue that is decent and not too expensive...? Church Halls might be a backup, just in case.

I posted this link in another thread but looks like it can be used here, too! I believe in recycling...

The Eine Welt Haus rents room out. You can find more info here: http://www.einewelthaus.de/index.php?id=168

Oh, I should add that the site's in German.
