hiYa and greets from Ansbach!!! i have read a few posts here, often finding a few interesting. i am now getting a few msgs from people heRe asking for more information about me... i guess a few of you out thar find me intriguing... but when i click on an interesting post, i always click on that person's profile who has posted it... i dont see why others dont do the same... ö besides, i dont see how (anYone) would find me interesting as i'm just a photographer who's VERY bored on weekends... but pleeeeeZe, allow me to advise you on ways to find out about me (please don't be offenDed):

there's a website link in my profile here. if you visit that link, you'll see a few photos and read about me... there's links also for other things i've done. you'll see that i write as much as i photograph... both great passions for me.

i've also posted in the forum a few other links where one can find out about me, thru viewing fotos i've created OR reading about me, or both (!!!)

also remember that as stated in some of my posts, especially that one about DSL difficulties, i do NoT have net access at home. i use public terminals, libraries and a bit at work, but am not allowed to. because of my rich and luxurious background and liVing stYle, i dont even try to spend a euro dime on paid net access at cybercafes and the such, as the cost in germany is MUCH more than back home in Spain!!! i thought paying 2 euros for an hour back home was bad; i was shocked when i checked and replied to some emails at that cyber at the main munchen train station a few weeks ago... almost 6 euros for oNe siLlY hour?? thats the lAsT time i am paYing!!!

aLso, I am thinking of abandoning this site. ThouGh i have found some great information heRe, the person who "edits" this website has caLLed me siLLy for haVing ranDom capitals in the words i tYpe, stating that this is not the place for such silliness. Plus, he has deleted the albums i creaTed, saying the deletion was/is warranted due to not having ANY pixs of Munich. little did HE caRe nor eVen boTher to checK but there were several fotos of Munich but he didnt even take a second to look at all the pixs... he just deleted to his heart's content. As he wiLL not tolerate me, i will not tolerate him either... tis HiS website and he can do what he wants...

But seriously, ignoring and not responding to flames can be difficult. And replying to every post (often with the same content) is not the way either. Somewhere between a happy medium should be found.

The random captial letters is actually more annoying that ALL CAPTIALS, IMHO.

question - doesn't it take a lot of time to insert random caps in words? that must mean that, in addition to writing a very long-winded post, you've taken additional time to insert caps, which maybe you think is funny. It's certainly silly (and rather stupid IMHO) but not funny. Feeling rather sorry for you.

well, Fototaker, it's a free country, and that goes for this forum too. TT is something of a virtual open house and there are some pretty basic, and not unreasonable, I and most TTers find, house rules, but the general principle is, live and let live so long as you're not offensive.

Speaking for myself, you're welcome to twist spelling, grammar and English usage till they beg for the coup de grâce on shaking knees. Presumably there are people who may find that spelling whim of yours endearing. In my book, people with such quirks are usually registered as PITAs and duly ignored (so, no, don't watch this space). But then English isn't even what my dear old mother bollocks me in, so who am to judge...

Aah come on Owain, even I have to admit, he's been more annoying than 'The sport that shall not be named' thread and thats saying something.

I think it is wrong to judge anybody without meeting in person. Sarcasm, humor or anything written do not always translate digitally and written word is often misunderstood and misinterpreted.

There is not a single person in this world without some weird quality so what makes everybody else so friggin perfect? Random caps is probably his weird thing. If it bothers you so much, it is not so difficult to just ignore or not read his posts.

i personaly just find it difficult to read. best left if you are really seriously wanting people to read your posts.

fotomaker or anyone else for that matter can always elect to ignore anyone, (which I have after wasting time reading that post this morning). just go to their profile and select "Ignore User", he could elect to ignore everyone and then post until his heart is content and everyone else could do the same. Then the good karma will be flowing again at TTM.

Disclaimer: You received this from W6 unless you already have chosen to ignore the webmaster, in which case - right then, it doesn't really matter now does it?

well, rootsherbal through this last post of yours you come across as a gentle, open-hearted person (not a digital mistranslation, I trust? ) and it is to this I respond, as ellewood did before me.
Through his lengthy, and somewhat peevish (I find) post Fototaker has annoyed some people on the forum, and it is to that they (myself included) have responded. Of course we all have actual and digital quirks (...myself included ), and of course we each have the choice of ignoring other members. The point is, once people decide to air their views on the forum, they expect and invite some sort of response, otherwise, why bother?

I actually agree with rootsherbal, though I must say that the "Spain is so much cheaper and nicer and better, etc. than Munich" shit is a bit annoying in a Munich forum.

why? We all keep going on about the stuff we miss from back home and about the things we find annoying in Munich. Just cos the guy comes from Spain doesn't give him any less right to bitch to his hearts content like the rest of us.

That's why I love this forum - we can all stand around and debate somebody's personal worth, sense of humour, morals, political opinions...over-use of Caps Lock etc. etc. ad infinitum and not even spot a trace of irony...

The bottom line is one man's trash is another man's treasure. What is annoying to you may be hilarious to me. What is music to you may be noise to me. This is just an open forum and we all have equal right to express ourselves in our own twisted ways. Read it, like it, love it, hate it, respond, disagree, ignore, argue or whatever but don't judge anyone until you know someone well enough in person.

Actually, it's not that open a forum. It's Editor Bob's forum. Bob happens to be pretty laid-back when it comes to "rules", but if he decides it's pissing him off and wants someone to stop doing it, there are 2 options: Change or leave. fototaker chose leaving.

Look, I'm not someone to complain when people miss things back home. I've certainly been known to do it myself on occasion. But out of 22 posts this guy's made in four days, 11 of them mention spain (some more than once) and at least five of those contain a negative comparison between Spain and Germany. It's fine for people to bitch about the differences, but man, keep it to a minimum.

He and anybody can write what they want in my opinion. If it becomes something to just skip over and not bother reading that is what I do. Kind of like when a commercial comes on TV. You can watch it or go to the bathroom or get another beer/wine and do the "just walk on by" to where things are interesting again.

I mean if you let a post make you crazy, you were probably too anal and uptight to begin with and that is your problem not any or every one else's. You deal with it.

Seriously, I woke up to fire engines and police this morning as my neighbors house was burning. I could hear the snap, crackle and pop through the walls. I grabbed the son, the dogs and got out of there. Luckily no one was hurt and it didn't break through the walls to my side. So, I think making a big deal out of nothing is a serious waste of energy and there are more important things in this world.

The bottom line of what you're saying and what I am and some (though not all) others are saying, rootsherbal, boils down to pretty much the same thing, I think. So far as the TT forum goes, I still am under the impression that (to quote my earlier message)...

Of course it's nonsense to judge somebody as a person on the basis of a couple of ad hoc messages, and with few regrettable exceptions most posts in this thread refer to Fototaker's message, not his person. As you more or less said, each to his own.

@IPJ - I think you've missed my point slightly - my comment wasn't aimed at anybody specifically at all.

I was going to reply, but to keep on topic I re-read his post - then I read it again. I have no idea what the hell it said. None. Apparently the mixed punctuation causes a complete and total brain-fart in my case.

Therefore I am not annoyed. Annoyance requires some sort of successful communication.

But I do think live and let live is a bit of crock. If the people on this board really lived by that philosophy it would be mind-numbingly boring. This is a board full of judgmental, witty, slightly alcoholic folks. I find it charming. So, please, let's all continue to pass judgement on our fellow man without recourse to all this hippie nonsense of do unto others.

oh geez! well, I guess some of you think it is not nice to have a go at a new (annoying) member, but it seems perfectly OK for him to rant about the editors, who have been maintaining this board for all of our sakes for nothing but criticism. In general internet etiquette, a newbie would try to respect a board's framework rather than wining about it after just 4 days. Like malc said, the board existed before fototaker, and I am sure we will all manage.

Besides, like Slim said, I like being judgemental over this board. That way, I can maintain my nice, charming self in real life!
