English-German kindergartens in/around Garching

Dear members,

Our family will move to Munich early April this year. We got info that registration for public German kindergarten for year 2008 is closed already. Is that true?

For back up, we are looking for bilingual German-English Kindergarten in/around Garching. I found the Three Bears, unfortunately it's a pure English kindergarten. Any recommendation?

I've just called one of the city run kindergartens in Garching on your behalf. They did run the open-days two weeks ago but it is still possible, in theory, to lodge an application for your child for the 2008/9 school year

Next week TUESDAY the City Kindergartens will be holding a joint meeting during which they will be going through the list of enrolements and allocating places to those who have applied. The lady I spoke with at the Bürgermeister-Wagner-Straße 3 kindergarten (no name, sorry!) said that if you do need a slot, it is CRITICAL that you contact the relevant kindergartens immediately and lodge an enrolment form. If you can't do this though a contact or by fax, she recommended that you send an email to any one of the city run kindergartens with the following details:

- Name of your child
- Date of birth (NOTE: Only if your child has turned three are they eligible for a kindergarten slot.)
- The date when you will need the slot.
