Hi there,
We will be moving to Hamburg at the beginning of March with 2 children aged 3 and 6. As they won't start School/Kindergarten until after the Easter break I was wondering if anyone could suggest things to do during the day? Also, from what I gather, some of you meet up for social evenings in the city but as this will be difficult for me, is there a regular meet up during the day for coffee or lunch?

Thanx for the link!
I was about to ask the same question.
Last Saturday we went on the Alster boat trip, boarding on Jungfernstieg. It's just 1 hr, 10 e for me and free for kids (they are little). It was fun!
We also go to different playgorounds, movies and big book shop (like Weiland or Thalia), where they have a special area for kids. I need to try theatre, but not sure how my little one (he is just 2.5 y.o.) will handle it.
I'd like to try new Kids museum in Museum fuer Kunst und Gewerbe, that should be interesting!

Guess what: they didn't let us in the Kids museum, cause my kids are too little! I wonder why they advertise this place as 'a first introduction to art' where kids can touch everything, try everything and can't break anything and still put the age barrier. I'm really upset.
So make sure you children are age 5 and above before going there.

Thats awful, was that the kinder-museum called klick that you went to? I took my son Noah who is just over 2 and they were fab with him there, maybe its a different museum- or maybe they have recently changed the age group-we went in January..

That was Hubertus Wald Kinderriech @Museum fuer Kunst und Gewerbe. It's a new one, I myself was excited to go, but...

I gotta say, big thumbs up for the Klick museum... was there today with the two kids, 3 and 1 year old ... and spent nearly 4 hours there... they both had a really great time, and I enjoyed it too Was worried that they wouldn't let us in, because of the previous poster, so did check the website before I went. I actually was only charged 4 euros, instead of 12 (no idea why).. maybe the woman felt sorry for me being on my own with two young kids. But it would have been worth the full entry money

Re post #2:
A day trip to the
Wildpark Lüneburger Heide. Its about 3/4 hour drive down the A7. Don't miss the falconry show.
We went there one weekday early April (S-H school hols). Rainy weather (although it stayed pretty dry) and car park almost empty.
We had an almost 1:1 presentation of the wolves & the falcon/eagle.
If you are an ADAC member showing your card on paying gets a reduction...
Picture of big-bad-wolf attached...

Heres another one. Same day...
They do flying displays twice a day unless its raining. Its worth seeing both as they are different...

Hi
We are thinking of coming to Hamburg for a long weekend this Easter and wanted to know about what might be nice for my little 5 year old daughter. I have taken a look at the tourism site and there are things like boatrips, the model train place and so on. Can anyone reccommend some really good things for children to visit (not the Dungeon!).
Thank you
