What's your favourite sausage?

What goes in your roll?

I do like a German breakfast at the weekend. We normally have a German breakfast on Saturdays and a good old British/American fry up on Sundays. It's probably not very healthy but I really love Knackwurst mit Knoblauch on my first roll.

I took me about 2/3 three years to pluck enough courage to try it but I also now really love Gehacktes mit Knoblauch. I especially enjoy putting this out when we have visitors from the UK or US.

- "What's this?"
- "Raw pork and garlic. You really must try it."

What goes on your roll?

I could never eat sausage for breakfast. But at other times of day, my favorite would be the "Coburger Bratwurst". A very long and slender sausage roasted almost black over open fire, fueled by pine cones. Yummi. smile.gif

A German who doesn't eat cold meat for breakfast? I thought that was close to treason, unless you mean you wouldn't eat Bratwurst for breakfast. blink.gif

I'll eat sausage in a fry up, but not cold meat on rolls. Ugh.

Out of sausages you can buy here, Nürnberger are very good for rolls (call them Semmel, Weck, Brötchen as you will), but I've also found Aldi's "Bratwurst Grob" an acceptable accompaniment to fried egg.

Raw Bratwurst (the red unboiled stuff) make delicious instant meatballs. Just press them out of the skin in bite-size pieces and drop them in your broth or tomato sauce. In general, I am not a wurst-person but these take the cake.

As to Aufschnitt, I don't touch the stuff except maybe Bierschinken every now and then.
