Great baby stuff you can't get in the U.S.

Local German products that make for good gifts

Hi everyone,

I have to send a gift to the US for my cousin's baby shower next month. I thought I would check in with TT to see if there are any specific baby products, toys, etc. that you've picked up in/around Munich that might not be available in the states. She doesn't know what she is having so I'd like to stay away from clothes.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi,
I always send pacifiers chains (schnullerkette), wooden toys for the stroller and rattles. I love the little books that attach to the stroller also.

Hope it helps

The baby sleeping sacks are the best. So clever. I got one for my new niece and my sister-in-law loved it. They have some really cute ones too..

If you like the idea of the sleep sack, try getting one from DM Drogerie Markt (the one at Rosenheimer Platz). They carry a range that are made from organic cotton and are only 18 Euro. Neutral design too. You can pay a lot more than that for a non-organic one, so I highly recommend them. Alana is the brand, and they have a range of baby products, all of which I believe are organic.

If your pal is a greenie, organic ranges such as Dr Hauschka & Weleda are a lot cheaper in Germany than in the US. Just check to see that the packaging has the English language information (or Weleda.com and Dr Hauschka.com).

My sister (in UK) and sister-in-law (in NZ) are both expecting and I've been buying those ranges. And pink baby t-shirts from rock concerts *blush*

I think it's way better if you just order online from one of the US stores. Have to say I've bought a lot of baby stuff when I go back home. Here everything is way more expensive.

Put in a bottle of SAB Simplex Tropfen (for wind) too. She'll love you for them...
