Hiking day trips in Saxon Switzerland

Anybody interested to go hiking on Sunday, 24.Feb.2008?

I was thinking about a 10 to 15 km tour (3 to 4 hours walking) in Saxon Switzerland.

We can get there very comfortably via S-Bahn from Bahnhof Neustadt (1 hour train ride). There is a train leaving at 10.20
So I think it would be good to meet at 10 so that we can buy tickets.

A daily ticket is 11 EUR per person. But there is also the "Kleingruppenticket" for up to 5 persons for only 22 EUR.

Hi I'm reasonably new in Dresden, working here for a small company. I'm treading water here looking for things to do until my family come out & join me in July. I come from the land of rain & midges ( clue in my ID). Don't have the proper gear here, but do have some trail shoes & if it's okay i would be interested in going along on the walk.

We are going hiking to Saxon Switzerland on Sunday, April 5. We want to walk through the valley Polenztal and see the "Märzenbecher" flowering wild on the meadows. It's Germany's largest area of wild Märzenbecher (I think, Spring Snowflakes is the English common name).

We are meeting at 9:00 at the mainentrance of Bahnhof Neustadt. The train S1 leaves at 9:21 to Pirna where we change to the train RB71 to Langenwolmsdorf. From Langenwolmsdorf we'll walk through the valley to Rathen and take the S1 back to Dresden.

A daily ticket costs 11 Euro per person or we can get a Kleingruppenticket for 22,50 Euro for 5 people!

It's quite a long hike, about 20km, but not difficult as we'll walk along the river in the valley. Bring lunch for a picnic.
