Shatner Wants To Boldly Go Into Space

Former Star Trek actor William Shatner is preparing to make a real-life trip away from planet Earth, after signing up to take a Virgin Galactic flight into space. The Canadian actor and rocker Dave Navarro are among more than 7,000 people who want to fly on Virgin's proposed commercial space flights, says company chief Richard Branson. The three-and-a-half hour flights - which will include six minutes of weightlessness - will cost passengers $210,000 each. Branson, who announced the plans last month, says of the huge response, "We are extremely pleased because it just means in a sense that the gamble we took seems to have paid off." His company is hoping to offer the flights by 2008.

interesting idea that acting in a SF space series makes you the kind of money to pay for a real life space trip. Wonder if he would be flying in his Star trek costume?

Cool though that Richard Branson again seems to succeed with such a business idea, should earn him a lot of money.

acting in a SF space series

In fairness to the floopy fuckwit it was more than just a series. It was arguably one of the most successful of all time and coupled with a number of big budget Hollywood movies that's gonna be a pretty hefty earner. (Note: I know that the actors didn't earn much off the original series) Throw in TJ Hooker blink.gif and various crappy roles in more recent stuff, some writing and directing moments and our man Bill has been on a pretty good earner for about 50 years or so. His first movie appearance was apparently in 1951 at the age of 20. He may be madder than a bag full of ferrets but fair play to him.

not to ignore the man's fine singing career...
