Girlfriend's 6 year old son is doing a 1 week ski course in Kreuth (germany). The plan is I'll go down on Friday 22 Feb afternoon to watch the ski race, and then take him off to another ski area, we spend the night, ski all day Saturday and return home Saturday evening. Got to get back Saturday evening to pick up the 2.5 year old who's slowly being poisened by his smoking grandmother.

The girlfriend claims she's on a seminar, but is probably drinking and picking up men while I hold the kids

Kreuth itself is a non event except for a kiddy ski course, the closest real ski region seems to be Achensee, where the pistes go between 1000m and 1700m not spectacularly high; high enough?

He's 6 and I'm a not greater skiier, perfectly happy on blues, take a red for a challenge, and black for boasting/masochism. So we don't need the best ski region, and its only for one day, so don't want to drive hours for 1.5 days skiing.

So any suggestions for where to go?
