Hi All,

I have recently moved to Darmstadt, and was wondering if any of you ever get together for social events or games of footie etc.

Also, is there anywhere in Darmstadt to watch English footie?

Also, where are the best bars to watch German footie?

Thanks a lot!!

I'm not too much of a footie fan, regard myself as a plastic gooner instead. But still willing to watch some footie and have some beers.

Don't know where though, but surely we can somewhere soon.

Well I was watching the Arsenal - ManU game (on DSF) in the Alte Kanzlei while everyone was drinking in Peters Pub. The An Sibin tends to show all the big games and the Burren Bar are going to start showing the games again (new ownership.) A lot of the Premiership games are shown on Premiere and bars that have it will show them if you ask nicely (if no other games are on.) The Arsenal CL game is on Sat 1 (?) this Wednesday as no German teams are playing and they have the license only for Wednesday games.

Cool, thanks, I know where the An Sibin is. Could you tell me roughly where the other two are? Are they kind of central or further out?

The Burren Bar is in Erbacher Strasse. Cross the road directly over from the An Sibin, walk away from the town towards the traffic lights and just before you come to them there is a road on the left. Go up this road and take the first right. There are 3 bars all next to each other, an African place, a cocktail bar and walk into the courtyrd and you'll find the pub. The Alte Kanzlei is near the center of town but its an old boy German pub, no English spoken as such. From Luisenplatz follow the tram line towards Arheilgen to the traffic lights (you should be standing next to the second hand record shop Comeback, I think the street is called Luisenstrasse) and you should come to the traffic lights which go over the city ring. There is a bar over the other side called Hercules (where I go late at night as its basically open 24 hours,) cross the road and its about 20 meters along the road (you should walk past a travel agents. There is also Die Theke on the Rheinstrase (just walk donw from Luisenplatz in the Griesheim direction) which also shows Bundesliga, has attractive barmaids, decent enough food, about 7 beers on tap and some English is spoken.

Cool, thanks a lot for the info. If any of you two fancy meeting up to catch a game some time, just get in touch!
