I'm new to this forum but I've been living in Berlin for about 8 years now. I do a Karaoke show for, mainly, English speakers every week at a couple of Berlin venues. Thought I'd post and let people know. The usual crowd is a mixture of ex-pats and English-speaking Germans.

The shows take place every Thursday at the Harp (http://harp-pub.de/index.php?location=harp-pub-berlin-charlottenburg&page=entertainment) - the management are really trying to get more Irish and English people back to pub which has been in danger of becoming too "German" since the new owners took over last year - and every Saturday at the New Shannon (http://www.thenewshannon.de/). It'd be remiss of me not to point out that there are there are lots of spots and even free shots to be had.

Based on the previous weeks you should only come along to the Shannon if you like it down and dirty as the crowd there are really up for it. We've got a lad called Vincent who looks like Dirk Nowitzki but does the most incredible version of A Boy Named Sue I've ever heard. Johny Cash is alive and well and living in Schöneberg.

The Harp is a slightly different buzz so far with lots of people just enjoying the singing while having a few beers or watching the European football. Among the highlights are Marky Mark (a golf pro from Leeds by day/ Johny Rotten personified by night) still regularly belting out his brilliant sex pistol / prodigy classics, and there is always a tremendous sense of anticipation when Maria takes the mic and blows us away with her gorgeous singing.
